It would appear that Goodell saw the video, read the police report, talked to domestic violence groups, and suspended Ray Rice 2 games. Great job!

Goodell should resign. It's beyond insensitive; it shows a lack of basic common sense.

Truth. Goodell is a giant turd, and this is just the icing on his turd cake.

One of those if he saw it and suspended him for 2 games he's an idiot, but if he didn't see the video he's a bigger idiot. The owners should dump him. It's not like it'd be hard to find some toady who will slurp the owners. The idea that Goddell is some kind of mastermind great commish for not killing the goose that lays the golden eggs is dumb.

Even ESPN is breaking bad on him. That's a sign you suck.

So I'm wondering if, since this is the first time his wife has seen the incident, if she'll leave him now.

The only good thing is I had Ray Rice in my knockout pool.

Tom Jackson is the only one on that set with half a brain. I would like to urinate on Trey Wingo.

TMZ has proof that the NFL knew about the elevator video.

Chris Morensen ... from JULY
http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=11262926

We saw the TMZ video of what happened outside—when he was dragging her out unconscious—but inside, I'm told from those who have seen the video, it wasn't pretty. In fact, she attacks him—we don't know the reason why—and he strikes her, strikes her hard. And her head—according to the sources I've spoken to—struck the rail inside the elevator and she was unconscious.

http://deadspin.com/someone-is-lying-about-whether-the-nfl-saw-the-ray-rice-1631901404

...

Privately, top reporters were told in no uncertain terms that the video existed, that the NFL had seen it, that it showed Janay Palmer acting violently toward Rice, and that, if released, it would go some way toward mitigating the anger against him. One of the league's most devoted mouthpieces described the video for us on an off-the-record basis, going off what his sources had told him. The implication was clear: If you saw this video, you'd know why Rice only got two games.

...

Whatever the case, it's almost certain that the NFL lied at some stage here, and that the league played a handful of its most loyal reporters in the process, suborning them into a smear campaign against a victim of domestic violence.

havent even watched it and dont plan to. saw enough from the other footage.

How about the fact the NFL had him in the room when they asked her what happened?

I used to roger some room in his choices as you cant please everyone all the time, but his moves have become much worse over time and this allegeed "missing" of a tape is complete BS>

I can't see how you can watch that video and think 2 games was enough. He won't be back. No team will want the distraction because he just isn't good enough anymore.

Launching Goodell isn't about morality ... he's fucking the NFL as a whole with his ineptitude, this just happens to be the thing drawing the most, and most recent, attention. It's to a point where the Milwaukee car salesman could point and laugh at what a bumbling , incompetent, business-jeopardizing fool of a GM ol' Roger is.

Correct. If you hire the NFL commissioner for his morality, you're a fool (or more likely lying). It's about his incompetence.

Right on both counts.

I doubt any national football writer will lead the charge though.

This is true. I am glad this POS won't likely play again. That said I still am uncomfortable in our society that otherwise legal issues to you and me ruin peoples lives forever. I do not mean Rice but if Joe Public got arrested convicted and sentenced to counseling for hitting his wife like that no job loss. Providing he didn't miss a bunch of work and so on. I guess it comes with the territory being in the public eye.

You could probably crush a diamond in that dude's butthole now. Rice wasn't facing a felony charge when he pled out.

LOL at the next time the NFL has to deal with a player that kills someone while driving drunk after this Rice fiasco.

I do not think they have yet reinstated the Dallas guy officially have they?

The NFL has a brand to protect (though they have done an extraordinarily shitty job in this case). No one's going to stop buying McDonald's burgers just because an assistant manager in Osseo, WI beat his wife with a garden hose.

Who is going to stop watching Football or stop buying tickets because of this?

This is a league that still makes big coin off of NFL's Greatest Hits videos/shows featuring guys like Jack Tatum (who made a boatload off of paralyzing Darryl Stingley) and has a team still employing a generally accepted rapist as the QB & face of one of its greatest franchises.

The better question is if he had gotten 6-8-16 games would THAT have been enough? My guess is that the Ravens couldn't figure out a way to cut him & not take the cap hit, and didn't think the video would come out and create this false firestorm.

He's got a conditional reinstatement plan in place and a 10 game suspension, but I think the NFL can attempt to duck criticism because that was done prior to what happened to Rice today.

True and true.

I've hated Goodell for years now. I truly hope he gets all that he has coming.

Well no one now. Ray Rice is out of the league. Our collective conscience is clear.

I know why it happens and how. It just seems weird to me that the general public is so up in arms about a NFL guy getting DUI or pot thing when the neighbor he drinks with does the same shit. Sorry if off track the Rice thing is so bad it would have made the news for anyone so it does not really apply.

I think most people find the pot thing to be ridiculous. I sure as hell don't know anyone who gets outraged.

I am not making my point very well I guess. So before it gets confused that I support Rice I am bowing out.
