I know men who have hit a woman. I know men who beat women. I know a woman who stabbed a man in his leg twice because she was pissed (he still didn't hit her back) and the guy married her and had 2 kids. I know people who have done just about anything you can think of. None of them are public figures so unless they make the news (some have) we won't hear about it.

There will be screening-booths at all NFL games for the month of October. Sales of so-called "wife beater" logo shirts will be suspended for the remainder of the year.

If there wasn't a well-known psychological pattern to women (and people being abused in general) getting the shit knocked out of them sticking by their abuser, I'd probably otherwise write a delightfully acerbic screed. In lieu of that, I quietly grieve just a little instead.

I would think your more cynical side would say she was willing to take a shot to the jaw in exchange for the million dollar meal ticket, which has quite obviously just ended for the most part.
