Baseball America named Kris Bryant minor league player of year.

Last week USA today also named him minor league player of the year.

Let the countdown begin.

He's the best that has ever played the game. Congratulations, Cub fans! You are winners.

I checked the list of past winners assuming it would be a bunch of guys that couldn't cut it in the majors. Not so. Certainly not an indication of greatness, but not a bad list.

I started collecting baseball cards the year he came up. His rookie card was like THE card.

Other than the fact he wasn't very good, I don't remember much.

He was one of the best hitters in the league for probably at least half a decade.

He was one of the best hitters in the league for probably at least half a decade.

During what were probably his 2 best seasons with the Cardinals, he probably wasn't even the third best hitter on the team.

He hit .342 one year (with 46 steals). He was a top 10 hitter 3 years in a row.

A .290 career hitter over 14 years. He was alright. He wasn't what he was hyped to be but he had a nice career.

He couldn't even carry my guy "Hard Hittin" Mark Whiten's jock.

(Best nickname of all time, BTW).

As long as he doesn't attempt to strike out The Whammer this offseason, he'll be fine.

It makes sense. Its not potential and its not one team, its a guy who performed better than everyone in all 30 systems, figures they'd be decent

You're a guy who embraces Sabermetrics but not the stuff about a strike out being equal to amy other out

What s it about Jeffries where you misremember him as a bust? Thinking of someone else?

I guess he was just overshadowed by all the steroids bombers of that era.

He actually would have been a perfect case of a guy who could have prolonged his average career into something great if he would have juiced.

Well he certainly isn't the 2014 version of Dr. Strangeglove that your guy Marcus Semien is...

Tell us all again just how much better Marcus is going to be compared Bryant.

Oregon. Not Washington.

As for Bryant. He's just the next overhyped Cubs prospect that will fail spectacularly in the majors (much to my amusement). How's Arismendy working out? He below the Mendoza Line yet? How about Baez? Still K'ing every other AB? The one guy who hasn't looked totally hopeless has a serious rage problem and an even worse injury history.

You're all getting played by Ricketts. "Hey Cubs fans! Come be excited by my cheap, bad team because there are young guys who can't play coming up!" I see a lot of Reinsdorf hate here, much of it justified, but at least Jerry doesn't string Sox fans along with this chickenshit prospect crap while simultaneously raping the one redeeming quality of the Cubs franchise (Wrigley).

In two years when this big prospect gambit has clearly failed Ricketts will enter into phase two of his plan: Crying poor and guilting Cubs fans into supporting his corporate white washing of everything Cubs.
