Last week I found one in my mailbox. Took quite a bit of bashing it against the wall to get the thing to fall out.

I was in suburban Kansas City Saturday for a wedding. We had some time in the afternoon so madame retard and I walked from our hotel up to a BBQ place a couple miles away. En route I was surprised to hear the cicadas there were every bit as loud (even louder I think) than here.

Since the trees were pretty short it was easy to find them. I was further surprised to see their cicadas were yellow and black (Mizzou colors?) rather than our green ones!?

I think our next big 17 year Cicada thing is coming in 2024...

2007 wasn't that bad from what I recall. I remember 1990 being terrible. My family was at the zoo one day that summer...not good.

'04. Lot's of old trees in Westmont. I have a video tape of me walking around my house and them fuckers were everywhere. The noise was like something out of a science fiction movie...

Early 2000's I took my youngest son to Washington DC for the weekend. He was 9 or 10 at the time. It was a year of the 17-year cicadas. He spent the entire time chasing and photographing cicadas all over the mall and arlington cemetery

Last week while in Tennessee, I had one of these bastards land on my hand and I didn't know it. It started squawking and the fucker was deafening to my left ear. Finally my son knocked him off of my hat, holy shit do I hate these bastards.
