It's a bad story for the NFL any way that you look at it, and Goodell is trying to protect the league by giving it minimal attention. Understandable. The NFL was not at fault in the first place, and passing judgment on the conduct of players in their private lives extra-judicially is really not their business, nor should it be.

Wasn't just Bernstein this time. Was a prime topic on all shows and all channels.

That's explains why it's called the liberal controlled media.

I don't condone what Rice did, but the woman spat in his face. She was provoking him as a man to retaliate. I can understand why he was upset, when this was his own wife, not just some stupid floozy. He obviously thought it was an act of betrayal and disrespect, which it was, and he reacted in rage by striking her to put her down. It's not different than a crime of passion, explained by temporary insanity. I'm sure he regrets what he did.

You did an awful job of not condoning what Rice did.

Here's a little liberal media trick I learned, if you start a sentence with "I don't condone..." and then you add a "but" after it, you are, in fact, condoning it.

It's okay, Rice regrets it (because it cost him his job).

It's self explanatory that temporary insanity isn't something that can be condoned.

Spitting in someone's face is one of the most vile, disrespectful, gross acts that someone can do, but it absolutely gives no right to hit a broad.

It's not temporary insanity when you wait to deck her until the elevator door is closed.

Rice spit on somebody on the Browns last year, he likes exchanging bodily fluids.

Yeah, he doesn't seem like the sane example at the moment.

Imagine if that dude went all "Ray Rice" on Ray Rice after he spit on him. He's about twice his size.

In my mind Rice has/had no reason to hit her. I am confused though why so many including Laurence today were so hard on the wife. Sure she could be interested in maintaining the money. She also could know this was in fact the only time it happened. Or while it doesn't justify the knock out she may in fact feel bad because hypothetically she bitched and called him all sort of nasty shit for an hour before she gets in elevator and spits. Then Rice loses it?

Of course everyone is rightfully outraged at that violence and how rough it was. But is it so far out in left field to think that they do in fact have their heads straight or at least are working on themselves and forgiving etc.?

we are a reactionary society, pittmike. imagine if the videos were released in the opposite order, and what everyone's response level would be right now.

I'm getting more that way myself. Goodell is a jackoff, but the constant outrage at everything all the time starts to numb things. I guess we're just jaded, but it's hard not to be.

I was just thinking to myself "I wonder what Sean Connery thinks about this."

Love the hypocrisy of the media in regard to this and the Sterling stuff. Sterling's been acting like an antebellum plantation owner since the 1980s but it's only when the tape emerges that the outpouring of condemnation begins. Same thing with this Rice thing. NFL is full of criminals---who do worse shit than punching someone in the face---and people have turned a blind eye to it. Then, the elevator tape of the actual punch comes out and all these shitballs start pushing each other out of the way to castigate Rice (who is a piece of shit, don't get me wrong). Notice how people didn't really concern themselves with it much when it was just Rice dragging her body. Like, what the fuck do you think went on in the elevator? She slipped and fell?

Still laughing at Goodell's performance today. Just saw that interview again. He's so arrogant. But he can't lie well. And it's gonna come out, for sure, that he witnessed the video before he gave the 2 game suspension. No doubt about that.

I disagree with Boers. He will not be fired. The owners still love him. That's all that matters. They're his bosses. Quite frankly, the owners don't really care about domestic abuse anyway.
