I think it is going to come down to the NFL's and Ravens' incompetence (willful ignorance) in not viewing the tape. It's hard to imagine Goodell giving only a 2-game suspension if he had. Florio makes a good case:

Yep. The lady interviewing him stared directly into his eyes with her own big blue eyes when asking the questions. That made him uncomfortable. And you can tell he was lying.

Florio likes his access to NFL people. He's just better at talking out his ass on this subject than the commissioner. Which as much as anything else is reason enough, from a "best for business" standpoint, to relieve him of his duties (whatever the hell Roger thinks they are) by the end of the year.

Florio is wrong. Mortinson and others were given a description of the video months ago from NFL officials. Left upper cut, hit the rail. Knocked out cold. That's what they reported way back. And that's what the video shows. So somebody in the NFL office saw it for sure. That's a fact. And if one person saw it, it means Goodell must have seen it.

That was the worst part of that interview. Someone is obviously lying, and the CBS reporter didn't even bring up this point. Either the NFL officials who spoke to reporters a couple months ago are lying, or Goodell is lying. Which one is it?

No, Barry Sanders retired because he got sick and tired of playing for the Lions who in his 10 year career never once drafted an offensive lineman in the first round. Actually, that's not entirely true...they drafted some guy named Willie Roaf, but traded him on draft day for Pat Swilling.

As the world's biggest Barry Sanders fan (I "discovered" him when I was a freshman at Oklahoma in the fall of 88 and I decided to skip the OU games to watch OSU instead) I suffered through all 10 of those seasons. I was excited for Barry's contract to end so he could be a FA and go to a good team, but instead he re signed with the Lions and then a year later decided to retire. If he would've just not signed that 7 year deal and went to FA I wonder how things would've turned out differently.

He was diverting with almost every answer. It was tough to watch him try and pull it off.

Looks bad. Why would this tape be coming to the NFL office from a enforcement source that needed to be shielded from having their name out? This the guy that leaked to TMZ as well?

I say the next step is Goodell says some underling could not confirm source so never forwarded it. Or some employee gets a golden parachute to fall on the "I never moved it up the chain" sword.
