Extended circlejerk over how much money Jerry Jones has. Captivating.

"You'd never believe it, but sometimes you get a room full of really smart people -- lawyers, businessmen -- and it becomes a circlejerk."

No, Dan, I think I do!

 I cracked up at that. Dan's in disbelief that Very Smart People didn't make better decisions. He never ceases to amaze me.

Dan is a bright, clever guy. He'd be so much more valuable as a counterpoint to the establishment than as their mouthpiece. Oh well, goalie pads don't buy themselves, I suppose.

And that's also how he began his career and rose to prominence at the station in the first place. He didn't become a stenographer to power until CBS acquired the Score and the public airways fell under oligarchic rule.

I wish this current version of Dan could go back in time 3 months and call his own show. He would be shouted down as an idiot.

Yes; at one time he wasn't a boorish (irony?) listen. The show was first and foremost about being entertaining in a sports-related way. It was come in, yammer, go home. Now it wouldn't be hard to imagine 20 minutes ceremonial pomp and circumstance from the moment he arrives on the premises until he's lowered by 4 interns to hold court at his private microphone to disseminate the day's points for the masses to accept with quiet admiration ... with the rare segment of dick jokes once every two weeks reminding the idiot few how things used to be. Whether the greater blame falls on the corporate absorption or the hosts' heads is mostly irrelevant ... they all crawled in bed together and this near-abortion on the air 5 hours a day is that which was begotten.

They are making the same point about Tucker that I've tried to make: no well coached, professionally managed defense is going to perform as bad as the Bears did last year, even with the injuries and age. The ceiling for that kind of unit as constructed last year should be somewhere between 17-22 in total defense if they know what they're doing.

Yeah, I kind of picked up on that too. I don't understand why; of all the principals in this story, Ferry and his comparison of Luol Deng to an unscrupulous African merchant is easily the meanest (and strangest).

Yea, where the hell does that comparison even come from? That's just weird.

Also puzzing was the line "he's got a little African in him." I don't think anyone's had more African in him since Dikembe Mutumbo.

What's being attributed to Ferry is really something he read from a scouting report. Still raises a lot of questions, though.

I guess he can't proofread what he is going to say? That was just strange and as CH said he is full African. It also doesn't fit Deng in the slightest.

The yahoo report raises questions on that detail. It suggests Ferry may be lying, but doesn't directly say that.

I think the phrase "a little African" was being used colloquially and he was trying to say something along the lines of 'there's more to him than meets the eye' in an Italian gangster kind of way. Like, he seems nice and polite, but will cut your heart out. Still, an odd choice.

Unacceptable! I've been in numerous meetings where inappropriate things have been said, maliciously and incidentally, it doesn't mean that as an executive you repeat what someone else said as though it is your opinion. Ferry doesn't have a "little" but a lot of racist, idiot dumbass in him.

Anyone else other than me find it odd how excited he gets about legalese and people getting fired and making quick determinations in things like the Goodell case? I wonder why he never became some sort of political reporter doing real stuff or a CNN guy.

We had one caller wander in from the Paul Finebaum show and then the caller before him calling from a parallel universe where the guys were discussing Urban Meyer. The Score needs to repair the electric fence that keeps college football fans out.

That was great. Dan and Terry were just confused, and dude got all pissed. But he didn't hang up and just put the phone down, so you heard background noise from whatever radio station he was tuned to.
