ive always liked the brew crew somewhat. that old school 80s ball and glove/MB logo is one of the best in baseball history

got family in colorado so ive been to coors field a few times, great ballpark. and then obviously there's the fire and the passion.

but regardless, ive always hated zambrano so ill be rooting against him

That Sox fans have so much hatred for the Cubs has always puzzled me.

I think it's fine to "root against the Northside" if you get a kick out of it, but those that spew unadultrated hatred would probably benefit from a few sessions on the couch.

Bizzare.

That's kind of my point, along with 1.) it's more a Sox fan phenomenon that a Cubs fan phenomenon, and 2.) neither team has really covered themselves in glory. But even still, by rooting against the Cubs, you show that you care. Why care?

It seems to me Cubs fans' apathy toward the Sox only fuels Sox fans' hatred of all things Cub even more.

seems to me very odd that this thread has been pushed to going on 4 pages now, with posts mainly from cub fans.

If/When the Cubs are eliminated, I will feel bad for 99.9% of their fan base. The 3 Cub fans I will have no sympathy for are: bigfan, Irish Boy, and my Old Style drinking, schwag smoking, obnoxious (Cuubbbies!) Aunt, who could not name you half of their team and thinks Ron Santo is just the greatest ever.

That just begs an explanation as I am baffled by the logic used there. Please elaborate.

Frank, you're wrong. 35 White Sox fans posts. 27 Cubs fans posts. 4 by Chuckle Nuts and I don't know who he follows, but if you want to give him to the Cubs side of the ledger, you're still wrong.

That complex seems to be complex.

I'm cheerin for the Phils, 05 Sox love! The team I hate the most is Cleveland, especially after how they treated Thome, if it ends up being Cubs/Cleveland, I'm cheering for the Cubs (yikes), even though it would be followed by hell by some of the 'My team is better than your team!' people.

Like Harry, who's taken every shot possible at the Sox and their fans in this run, he's the reason there's Sox fans who hate "or worry about" the Cubs so much. I respect Murph more. Or some of the people in this thread.

But yeah, don't let one guy represent the group or you. But I saw the same thing in 05. September, drove behind a car with a Cubs and Indians hat in the back seat, Cubs fans came to the park cheering for Cleveland (they left before Joe Crede won it though:D), cheering for Boston, etc. And I saw in 03 one guy who was the biggest talker during the playoff run, and then had a Marlins shirt after the Cubs were eliminated, it was all a big joke to him. So yeah, there's idiots everywhere.

But then again, maybe they're just really big Chris Young fans?

Why keep posting about it? Seems to me like you care more.

I for one would like to see the Cubs do good. If they come out flat today, holding onto yesterday's disappointment, they're only making it harder on themselves to advance.

As far as Cubs/Sox hatred, I for one know at least one Cub fan who hoped Paul Konerko would suffer a career ending injury during the Series two years ago, and one Sox fan who calls Cubs fans fucking losers.

Either way, stupid hatred. Life is too damn short to "hate" a sports team and its fanbase.

Like I said, the Cubs (and their fanbase) should be focused at the task at hand, not browbeating and broadbrush stroking the Sox fanbase as their team is out of it.

except, my friends, when that hate is thrown towards a certain team to the north that wears the green and gold.

You are right. The Edmonton Eskimos can go to hell.

Oh that goes without saying.

How do you get Cubs and Sox fans to stand side by side in unity in a common cause?

Bears/Packers weekend.

We'll all be unified in our disgust I fear. That will be the capper to a craptacular weekend with the Cubs bowing out after Saturday and the Bears getting immolated on Sunday.

Not a confident laddy buck am I. :(

Ah, but remember my friend. When the Bears are against the wall, they are usually the most brutal of defenses to watch. If the game is out of reach? Instead of racking up points, they'll start racking up the injury total. (Nothing career ending or even season ending, but historically; the Bears get to be a lot of fun when they start brutalizing the other team.

Cold comfort that phyrric victory will be. I'm afraid I'll not be in the mood for that. We'll see.
I could be surprised on two fronts...just not bloody likely.
