The real reason is you were really, really bad at the job, and Moss was really, really good (at least in comparison.) He even admitted that he would get so engrossed in what Moss was saying that when it was his turn, he realized he hadn't been thinking of a response (on the Pat & Matt show.) If you really wanted to work at the job, it wouldn't be that hard to remember that you have to say something. I guess he thought it was just free money sitting there??

better to quit than be fired? I never saw his show, but playing in the league is not a prerequisite for me to enjoy a guy's thoughts on the game, nor a guarantee of quality thoughts/delivery.

Urlacher had bad sports thoughts when he was an active player, I'm not sure why any network would think he'd be of use.

I would've guessed his being about as well-spoken as Helen Keller might've precluded the hiring as well.

And here I just thought she couldn't see.

Say what you want about the guys personality, he is a HOF player and who knows how much better his stats could have been if he rushed the passer instead of dropping back.

Regardless, this is something I think the Bears/McSaskeys 100% miss the boat on bringing guys back to honor them.

I am 100% sure they are aware of it and they had a Bears HOF planned as part of the political kickback Stadium deal and it was taken off the board when everyone wanted a little bit more of the deal. Like the White Sox getting $30+ million, as part of the Soldier field deal because....? why?

Like the Cowboys have the ring of fire, honoring various cowboys and they have a coordinator of that program who always has ex Cowboys doing things. Some gets them paid, some doesnt. They are always welcome at games, functions, etc.

The Bears have gotten better at this, such as the Ditka honoring last year, but guys like Hamp, Thayer, Fencik....etc....evne mcMahon, should just have a connection of some sort. BEAR DEN, I dont care,

Maybe when they build their own stadium, they can do something for the ex players
