Ok, so now they get a dope on the line who can't put a sentence together - the typical B&B 'cherry pick the dopes' method of debate.

But now we get another one - in addition to Bernstein being an expert on all things medical and all things legal, he's now officially an expert on discipline and the effects thereof because he read a blog on Salon.com.

Bernstein is due for a 'the gay gene exists and it's proven scientific fact' nugget.

The science is pretty solid that spanking is at best useless and may be harmful and any other type of more serious physical discipline is harmful.

Bernstein isn't just making it up because he thinks he is an expert.

I don't know that it is or isn't. It's an ongoing debate that won't be ending anytime soon. I wasn't spanked as a kid and I don't spank my kids. That being said, I'd think myriad other factors come into play - who is doing the spanking, what are they being spanked for, severity of the spanking, etc.

And even if Dan is correct, he's NOT an expert. He reads a few blogs and presents himself as an expert in settled science. He does it with everything from medical diagnosis, legal opinions, the 'gay gene' and even friggin' mesh points.

I simply despise self proclaimed experts (who aren't) and people who present opinion as fact. Everything that Dan says may be 100% truth or it may be 100% false. He'll never admit that though.

Add peer reviewed study to the Bernsteinism list.

By the way, did anyone hear him earlier when he suggested that the WORST possible 'punishment' or 'discipline' he could ever receive as a child was when he was told that his parents were 'disappointed in him'.

That sentence is very telling. It's such namby pamby touchy feeling North Shore Dukie crap. Many kids I knew growing up in the relatively middle of the road Northwest side would have laughed at that.
