That is a thread YOU started, bigf..I mean Inquistor. Here are the "predictions" from there in terms of win totals;
79
77-81
plausible to reach .500
77
over 75
76
68
77
78

Two people said that might get to .500-- and guess what-- BRick wasn;t one of them!
"talk about an embarrassment that one is an ALL TIMER" BRick didn't even post in that thread

An aside; In an incredible twist of fate, Mr Belvidere had the best 'prediction' in that thread
Quote:
Abreu.

Allstar

ROY

In the hunt for MVP.

Nothing else matters to me other than Sale not hurting his arm

Arrieta is so dominant he affects the opposing team on days he does not even pitch.

You said it.... now wear the loss like a man... or go ahead and run to your daddy and cry.... what part of "WE ARE DOING IT" isn't a prediction of .500...I mean everyone can see what you did and now you deny it ... YOU SAID ".500 WE ARE DOING IT" admit your defeat and take the loss ..move on

"3 games from monumental!

It's been a long road to get back to striking distance but we are doing it!"

The part where I said "we are doing it".

Maybe you don't understand the difference between the words "are" and "will". Now, I wouldn't normally think this but earlier in the thread you cited the minor league win/loss record of the White Sox organization as some sort of evidence of something so I have to leave everything on the table.

The Sox were 3 games away from a monumental season but they were unable to keep up that impressive record and fell off. We are no longer doing it.

To help you out, I have included the definition of "are" at the bottom of my post to avoid confusion.

verb
1.
present indicative plural and 2nd person singular of be.

Saying Arrieta is the best pitcher in town is ridiculous.

It's Kyle Hendricks.

After tonight's performance I think he can be added to the debate.

Though we shouldn't forget Neil Ramirez and his 1.35 ERA.

I don't think anyone is bothered by it. Maybe weird ass people. I think when people argue their hopes as facts people get annoyed. I hope Arietta is as good as Chris Sale. Why not? That'd be cool. But because he was almost as good for one season as Sale has been for three you have people who are saying he's the as good and even better. Not sure you can blame Sox Subdivision for saying Thays ridiculous.

Definitely weird

I dont think IMU actually believes it. I think that's just talking shit to a rival team.

But some here have expressed legitmate anger over these types of things

Arrieta's 2014 has been better than Sale's 2012 or 2013.

I'm pretty sure Jake Arrieta almost throwing a no hitter against a team that didn't care has surpassed that one.

Why is my statement false?

Because Sale rarely gets to face pitchers. And he plays home games in the same friendly launching pad that you have insisred has helped Abreu all season.

Even more stupidity from IMU.

Abreu has 34 HRs this year....21 of them have been hit on the road.

ERA Minus, FIP Minus, and xFIP Minus are the pitching version of OPS+ and wRC+: a simple way to tell how well a player performed in relation to league average. All of these statistics have a similar scale, where 100 is league average and each point above or below 100 represents a percent above or below league average. However, as lower is better for (almost) all pitching stats, a lower ERA- or FIP- is better.

2014 Jake Arrieta:
ERA-: 71
FIP-: 61

2013 Chris Sale:
ERA-: 72
FIP-: 76

2012 Chris Sale:
ERA-: 74
FIP-: 77

I thought IMU was full of BS when first posting but might have a point.
