I haven't heard much of the shows over the last few days. What I've heard is Terry following Dan's lead as always. I know Dan doesn't spank his kids. That's obvious. I would have guessed that before the NFL problems. But I'm betting Terry spanked his kids. Also betting Terry's old man hit him. But it's cool to follow Dan's lead in saying that people who do it are scum even if it doesn't reflect Terry's ways or the ways of Terry's Dad.

Just wondering. Did he outright say it? If he didn't then he did and his dad did. Cuz that would be something you would say if you're going strong on this thing.

It really wouldn't matter. We know a lot more now then we did back then. It's the same reason why it no longer is acceptable to let kids sit in the front seat but it was before. The science improves and so does the safety of cars.

We dont spank our kids, I was rarely spanked as a child. That being said, I dont know if I'm comfortable comparing an open palmed swat to your kids butt to beating them bloody with a stick.

Yeah I guess, I was just trying to differentiate between a true spank on the butt to something more resembling a punch. I've never seen someone spank their kid on the butt in public and been morally outraged.

Not saying Terry has to apologize. And I realize that the studies Dan likes to cite weren't available in the 80s and 90s when Terry was raising kids. So parents thought they were doing the right thing. "Time Outs"? When did they start? Early this century I would guess. Just saying Terry is quick to repeat Dan's take that parents were scum bags back in the 80s and 90s when Terry probably spanked his kids as well.

I think the new school discipline works fine if used responisbly and consistently. Time outs work great for us, but we stick to our guns on duration (we started with like a minute and now we go to 2-3 minutes, he acts like he got 25 to life ) and we dont use it for everything. I have friends and family that use time outs stupidly. A kid spills a cup of juice and they are in time out... What's the point, he didnt mean to do it you are just using it as revenge for him having an accident and because you are pissed you have to clean the carpet.

There is reason to think that is likely. They even explained why.

1) Rice seems relatively unphased by the whole thing.
2) Most people who hit women do it more than once.
3) His choice of venue to hit his wife indicates he isn't even that interested in hiding it. You don't think he'd do the same thing in his home?

My reasoning that Terry spanked his kids.

1. It was the 1980s when spankings were more of the norm and accepted by society.

2. Terry is an idiot. Thus he wouldn't have been one of the few "Evolved parents" of that time that used alternative forms of punishment.

3. He had 4 boys. They have Boers blood. So they must have misbehaved a lot.

Terry was able to judge that Rice's actions in the elevator showed he has beat his girlfriend more than once (by his lack of emotion, and way he dragged her out).

I tend to agree that he probably has beaten her on more than 1 occasion, but there's no way you can draw any conclusions from a 5 second elevator clip.
