Have you ever just stopped feeling it?
I mean physical pain. Not like emotional pain.

What's worse pain, physical or emotional?

Yes. I have worked for so long with liquid nitrogen and liquid helium I do not feel my fingertips the same.

Emotional. No doubt.
Not trying to sound like a tough guy here but I basically bleed some almost every day. A sheet metal screw here, a slipped hammer blow there. I broke my toe a few months ago and was like well that's broke... and went about my day cause I know they can't do shit for a broken toe. Heard it snap and everything. As I get older that stuff tends to affect me less and less.
Things that happened to me when I was a kid still effect me to this very day.

I got four wisdom teeth taken out. That sucked for about 24 hours.

Pain? Try prison.

I didn't have complete feeling in my legs or feet (numbness) for 2 months and I didn't say a word about it. #Winning

Scratches and a broken toe are really, really low on the pain scale.

What's the worst physical pain you have experienced?

Hmmm. Maybe my broken hand. I punched a wall and broke three bones. My pinkie was pointing 90 degrees from my Palm.
One thing I never learned to handle was my migraines.

As a teenager I Sprited and fell on my shoulder. I was playing on concrete. I just knew I broke something but I didn't. It hurt like he'll for a week.

I was running in the house when I was 5 and ran into the arm of a chair and knocked my front teeth clean out. They didn't grow back for about 3 years.

I found I have an incredibly high threshold for pain, yet I act like a little girl any time I get sick. Can't explain why.

About six years ago, I had Cholesteatoma, which is basically a cyst in your ear. Surgeon had to cut my ear off, take down my ear canal and then saw the stuff out of it. Surgery took about four hours. Apparently I shat on the surgery table. If you can stomach it, heres a video of what the surgery is like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0yJXa-Eo9M. I went back to work the next day and didn't even need painkillers. The surgeon was amazed because he said its usually several days recovery at a minimum due to the amount of stuff he had to pull out of there.

Those daily ouches would suck and migraines must be awful. I've been lucky to avoid things like that. A traumatic injury like a compound tib/fib fracture will give you a whole new perspective. It's put-me-out-of-my-misery kind of pain.

Well, when I broke my hand.... and I know this sounds bizarre... but it felt... good? I was super pissed at the time. And I was like YEEEEEESSSSS! when it happened. It's odd. I feel like I'm blocking out physical pain... or using it. Hard to tell the difference. Of course I've never pulled my bottom lip over my head or experience childbirth.

You know what pain is? I was working in St. Louis during the Cubs/Marlins series in '03

That's good, FS. Love that scene.

I could handle having Hester back. Never really understood why he had to go. It didn't seem like it was money.

Sorry, wrong thread on the Hester thing.

It is painful though to watch him be awesome.

Ingrown toenail is the worse pain Ive felt. It was like a spike digging in the nerve.

Try thinking that your gout was an ingrown toenail. Filling up a hot bath and taking an exacto knife to the toe to cut the nail out. Yeah that wasn't pleasant. The doctor shook his head when I went in.

Yeah a little bit of pain never hurt anybody, if you know what I mean. Also, I think knives are a good idea. Big, fuck-off shiny ones. Ones that look like they could skin a crocodile. Knives are good, because they don't make any noise, and the less noise they make, the more likely we are to use them. Shit 'em right up. Makes it look like we're serious. Guns for show, knives for a pro.

Migraines are the worst. I have them now and then especially when stressed. Bad deal. Those that do not have them do not understand.

My colon perforated a few years back. I couldn't imagine any pain worse. Unbelievable.
I'll put it to you this way. I passed a kidney stone two years ago that lodged in my ureter. It kinda hurt a bit, but I thought it was just some abdominal cramps. It stayed there for a week before I went to the doctor only because I has blood in my urine.

It's all relative.
