I would say that is high, but to be honest I have no clue about NIU. Arkansas looked like the old Wisconsin teams on Saturday at Texas Tech, they are huge up front as they average about 321 a man and they have a couple of really good backs. They still can't throw the ball.

Thanks. I like Wes Lunt, too.

So does Washington, apparently.

I love ya, Doc, but referencing a game from 2001? When the Sugar Bowl-bound Illini beat a 6-5 NIU team by 5. At home. If Illinois wanted NIU on their schedule, NIU would be there.

I think Arkansas wins. Too big up front on the O-line and this is NIU 3rd road game in 3 weeks. It takes a toll.

The spread seems a little big to me.

I was shocked at the spread when I heard 14.5.

True, but they have a very pretty campus area. Drove through it (to get to Steak 'N Shake before disembarking home) just this past Saturday after going apple-picking with the fam at Jonamac Farms in nearby Malta, IL.

 I too was at Steak and Shake and Jonamac on Saturday. Can't believe I missed a Q. Bovifs.

 Doc, I love it. I grew up watching Illini football and still support it. I just think you guys deserve better than Tim Beckman. A former Illini athlete-friend told me there's a big difference between the current and former AD.

Down to 13 Spany, you must have made a HUGE play.

Inexcusable effort by NIU tonight.

Arkansas was clearly the better team, and we obviously caught them a year too late, but the way the game played out in the first half is completely inexcusable.

I'm hoping gamecast was malfunctioning, but did NIU go for it on 4th and 15 at their own 25 in the first qtr down by 7? Game was lost right there if that is true.

You have some details wrong, but it actually is more crazy if you get them right. :|

Details like being flagged for an illegal shift on 4th and 10, and then still going for it on 4th and 15? Dat's crazy.

I'm still fine with how the season has gone so far considering all the losses on defense (the entire defensive line and 1st Rd NFL pick Jimmie Ward). Going down 14-0 on an opening kickoff return and a fumble return for TD is a tough hole to climb out. Considering the lack of offense the defense held up surprisingly well.

We were missing a couple of our playmakers on offense, Tommylee Lewis and Akeem Daniels. We are still without starting LB Jamaal Bass. Hopefully we can use this bye week to get healthy.

3-1 with three straight road games is a good start to the season.

Will there be an ad placed in the paper about the Arkansas game?

NIU alumni paid for that ad. The athletic department had nothing to do with it.

I think they could have spent their money more wisely, calling out something that is already known doesn't accomplish much.

I think NIU should pay more attention to not getting throttled by Arkansas than scheduling theoretical football games.

It was kind of a throttling.

I agree. However, games that lopsided against NIU rarely happen.

Last team to beat us this bad was the 2011 Wisconsin team that had Russel Wilson and won the Big Ten.

Best part about that game is that it should shut Rozner up on NIU. I know he graduated from NIU, but how many people really care about NIU football?

I would prefer that the Arkansas' defense try to be nice.

Nope, that was a good old-fashioned butt-kicking.

Doc - Touche. The Big Ten is so bad I think Illinois is going bowling this year.

Hawg, what happened? I stopped paying attention to the box score for your game when i saw it was 28-14 Arkansas in the 4th. What a collapse. At least Northwestern beat up Penn State, makes our win against them look better.

We were up 14 and had a run down to their 1 yard line that would have sealed it, and our big Left Tackle got called for tripping. Totally changed the momentum and we couldn't hang on. Extremely disappointing loss, should have won the game.
