After all of this, its actually quite sad that we have to say "IF" they get good. When Theo got here, the expectations were generally that this should be a playoff team in 2014-2015. There is a chance of that happening, but its more likely that next year is an 80-85 win season, and maybe 2016 you start penciling them in during spring training to be frontrunners for the division title.

There you go Rick! It's the oft picked on Sox fan just minding his own business!

He's right though. There were even Cubs fans saying they should be playoff contenders this year at the end of last year.

That's a different argument. Why does he care so much?

Are you asking a guy with 36k posts why a guy with 48k posts cares so much?

Let me get this straight, leash. You start a thread, in the Cubs section, with the phrase "Sox fans..."

Then a Sox fan posts in this very thread that you started, and you ask why he cares so much? I can't even begin to attempt to understand your logic in that.

Delusion. I greatly enjoy telling deluded Cubs fans that all their prospect suck, being told I'm wrong, and then winding up being right. It's awesome. I look forward to Bryant failing next year.

I'll admit to being jealous/annoyed at all the underserved (even before Theo) press the Cubs get despite winning nothing for as long as anyone can remember in a Sox vs Cubs world. Sure there are several socioeconomic factors that explain why the Cubs are loved and the Sox are irrelevant, but that doesn't mean you can't be annoyed by the celebration of a tradition of unashamed inferiority especially when the team getting the short end of the stick has actually done something of note.

Let me also say that I sacrificed all of my mults because of my Cubs/Sox discussion so that hurts too and I may never get over it.

Frank, I posted about the hatred Sox fans seem to have toward Cub fans. Then you came in and explained why the Cubs aren't really that good and why Theo is a disappointment.

Do you see the irony?

Interesting point, vegan.

So we should just reply to all Sox rebuttals from now on with "I'm sorry you're poor."

Were you under the impression this was a Cubs message board? You're on score670.com, the message board for the WSOX flagship. No wonder you're confused.

Well, it's a Chicago message board, so the Cubs part goes without saying. If it were a cassette tape with a used condom on the end, then "Sox" might have come to mind.

oh quit being a little bitch!

I read a thread. You generalized posters for a behavior that you exhibit in damn near every thread you participate in. I called you out on it. You are now acting like my 3 year old when I say she can't have more chocolate.

If that's following you around then you need to re-evaluate things. Or grow some thicker skin. Or both.

Leave kids out of this.

Anyways, I am granting you the courtesy of leaving you alone. It is your choice as to whether you will do the same.

I hope they lose both so I get more B&B and Laurence Holmes.

Kind of, but not really. It seemed to be more of an afterthought based on your original post:
leashyourkids wrote:

First thing you ask is about the team itself.

Is it their popularity?

Is it their ownership?

Is it their GM and his staff?

Is it the patience of the fans?
Oh, here it is. 5th on the list.

leashyourkids wrote:

I think you need to get a refresher on what the word irony means. You asked what we hate about the Cubs, and I answered. The Cubs aren't really that good right now. That is not my opinion, that is a fact. They really haven't been good since...well probably 2008? Are you going to try and argue otherwise?

In my 27 years or so of watching baseball with Sox and Cub fans, I think Sox fans over sell the part where they are so realistic/negative. Many of them are overly optimistic.

But that's....ok.

None of you will be winning any awards for being the most realistic fans. Its supposed to be a fun diversion.

At times we all are.

I will point out that while a lot of Cubs fans are saying things like Arreita is better than Sale, and penciling Rizzo, Baez, Braynt, etc in for multiple All Star Games, in the 2014 prediction thread over in the Sox section, there were exactly two people who said they "might" get to .500, and I guessed they would win between 77-82 games. Most people had themin the 75-80 win range. Going into this season, I would say that is pretty realistic.
