At times we all are.

I will point out that while a lot of Cubs fans are saying things like Arreita is better than Sale, and penciling Rizzo, Baez, Braynt, etc in for multiple All Star Games, in the 2014 prediction thread over in the Sox section, there were exactly two people who said they "might" get to .500, and I guessed they would win between 77-82 games. Most people had themin the 75-80 win range. Going into this season, I would say that is pretty realistic.

Nobody here has penciled in Rizzo Baez and Bryant for multiple all star games. (I dont count IMU because I believe he is trolling a bit)

I would guess every Cub win prediction was below 80 as well.

Darkside said he wasnt even gonna waste his time on the Cubs this year
Jimmy Pasta has a stroke once a week because of the Cubs
Ive said this season is a failure and they should have been competitive by now
Curious Hair has ripped the plan hard for a couple years
Matches Malone has been critical
Hank Scorpio has been critical
Kddidit has ripped them

Basically the only ones that are even close to optimistic are IMU and Denis

But that doesnt satisfy many Sox fans idea of what they have built up Cub fans to be in their head. So they say things like "you guys say you're joking, but you really mean it!"

Its ridiculous.

On this board, the negativity is equal

Also, for every optimistic Cub fan or post on this board there is at least one Sox post/poster that is just as optimistic

IMU and denis are more than "close to optimistic". That is what was laughable about your statement.

Many Sox fans have this affliction where they need to try and put down Cub fans to make themselves feel like they are somehow "better" or "smarter" fans

Anyone outside of the situation would laugh at such a notion

So just remember, most times when a Sox fan rips Cub fans as a whole it comes from feeling inadequate and wanting to be seen as a better fan

If you keep that in mind, you just kinda have to laugh

Fine. But the proximity was meant to apply to the others (i.e. No one else is even CLOSE to optimistic)

Come on. Your statement was just flat out wrong. You were saying there are only two Cubs fans that are even close to being optimistic about the Cubs.

It has nothing to do with being a better or smarter. It has to do with laughable statements like that. Heck, I'm optimistic about the Cubs going forward.

It's a dumb argument, and one that is overblown, but that's not even close to true.

Why do you feel optimism is a negative? It really doesn't have anything to do with being "better" or "smarter". I don't think PMA is a reflection of one's intelligence. It's just that, in light of the last 106 years, I find that optimism cute.

Seriously though, you know your thoughts are lame when you need to make preemptive strikes that basically say "You'll counter what I said because that is what you do!".

The Sox didn't meet expectations this year. Expectations are not a prediction. They are where I feel they should be. Notice I said "Anything less than this is failure". That indicates I thought it was entirely possible they would not reach that record.

Keep digging that hole deeper THE INQUISITOR. How about you take my word for it instead of, as you put it "being the sea lawyer that you are" and trying to twist my words. Otherwise it comes off sad and desperate, but hey, at least all my mults got deleted once I joked that you should be banned for 8 weeks. That is a win for you.

Im sorry, Juiced isnt in my CSFMB regulars mind. Ill add him.

COF is absolutely not optimistic, he's very negative and down on Theo's plan.

CPguy gets excited by prospects but usually his posts are peppered with "but he'll probably bust"etc

Inquisitor is a mult and seemingly just posts stats. Ive not seen any predictions of success from him

See the mere fact that you included CoF is another example of Sox fans just default to the "oh he's a cub fan, he must be unrealistic and think the cubs are awesome"

So why do you get annoyed when Sox fans don't think the plan will work?

I just always assume COF is on the wrong side of a sports argument. I really don't think many Sox fans make fun of Cub fans for being overly optimistic. That's what I was referring to in the post you quoted.

Of course it does. Its almost always part of the larger point that Cub fans are dumb/dont know baseball.

I dont. Never have.

If its presented as "idiot cub fans get conned by Theo" then that part annoys me

Saying the plan might not work or wont work is absolutely a reasonable position and always has been.

your average cub fan knows less because the sorority girls, disabled people, alzheimers, etc. get lumped into the sample set.

Of course poor people have lower IQs so maybe that evens out.

It's funny. You're the least sensitive guy in the forum, except when it comes to this. It's like you have an inferiority complex when it comes to the Cubs or something. You root for the King Kong Big Market Heritage Franchise ESPN darling with the Perfect Ballpark and the Hot Chick Fans. We root for the second banana in the ballmall filled with Ligues. I'm not sure why you feel so put upon.

Anyways, as a favor to THE INQUISITOR, I am going to pledge to leave Cubbie Nation alone since he is being driven to the point of delusion based on my postings.

I'm officially all in on the Cubs 2015 playoff run!
