Hey Steve,
Show me an NFL game you can't see dumb plays on both sides. He's insulting the Bears win or lose.
They sucked against the run? What game was he watching? The Jets had the #1 rushing offense coming in to the game. The Bears didn't stop them, but controlled them for the most part.

There are a lot of bad teams in the NFL, and the Bears appear to be one of them.

Lucky for the Bears that the Jets are worse.

Same goes for the officials.

The Bears tried to give this one away. Or they just refused to take full advantage of some great opportunities offered by the Jets and the officials. I don’t know which is right. Probably both. But either way, the Bears avoided choking away a couple of 14-point leads.

It never should’ve been an issue. Just look at where the Bears began. They had a 7-0 lead on the second play of the game when Geno Smith threw a pick-6 to Ryan Mundy. He was the open man, I guess.

The Bears led 14-0 two series later because the clumsy Jets fumbled a punt that came from the Bears’ end zone. Former Jets great Joe Namath tweeted a question about how many different mistakes the Jets could make.

The Bears should’ve gone up 18 points in the second quarter, but Jay Cutler missed Alshon Jeffery in the end zone a play after Martellus Bennett couldn’t hold a certain TD.

The week began with the Bears uncertain how they would handle the Jets pass rush, but they handled it better than passes into the end zone.

Then the Bears got lucky. Game turning-lucky. They should’ve trailed at halftime when Cutler was sacked and stripped and Demario Davis was racing into the end zone with 90 seconds to go in the second quarter.

But the refs blew it dead, ruling Cutler was down by contact. A replay showed he wasn’t. The Jets had the ball, but they were too awful of a team to take advantage of it.

The Jets were a team begging to be put away, but the Bears kept committing silly penalties such as running into a player making a fair catch and mouthing off after a play had ended, which extended a drive that would become a touchdown.

For their part, the Jets were all kinds of dumb. Several times, the Jets had third-and-short and tried to get tricky with Smith running play-action. Which is just what the Bears’ run-challenged defense wanted.

After the Bears made it 24-13, the Jets faced a third-and-2 on a gotta-have-it drive. The Jets didn’t think their top-ranked rushing unit could get it. Smith tried a pass. Of course it fell incomplete.

The Bears at least ought to send a card.

The Jets game plan looked as stupid as the 49ers’ strategy the week before. Why would opponents with strong running games decide they shouldn’t run against the Bears?

It wasn’t totally awful and without merit for the Bears. They scored enough to win despite requiring plays from guys who were on the street about 20 minutes before kickoff. The Bears also allowed just one TD on the Jets’ six red-zone drives, although the Jets seemed equally responsible for that, and Cutler didn’t throw a pick, and he sure had chances against the blitz-happy Jets.

The Bears will take it. They took a game where they weren’t the worst team on the field Monday night. They also took a piece of the lead in a division where they aren’t the worst team.

In this NFL, it’s good enough to just not be bad.

This is the NFL every week. It's parity.

Jimmy, why subject yourself to his drivel? I wish there was a "like" button for DoW submissions because I couldn't click on it fast enough for this a-hole. People hated Mariotti (rightfully so) but for whatever reason, Rosenbloom gets a pass for being an asswipe on his stupid radio show (he's horrible) and in print (even worse). He's a 50-something year old dude who thinks he's hip. Terrible.

Probably because nobody pays much attention to him.

Parity a made-up word meaning mediocre

Its the same old column. The Bears are bad (suck) if they lose, the other team is bad (sucks) if they win. The bigger the win, the more they suck. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I once thought this guy talented and insightful enough to be a true lead columnist but instead he's a one-trick pony who's best analysis is second-guessing whatever the moment.

There are a lot of bad writers, and Steve Rosenbloom appears to be one of them.
