The most shocking part of that entire thread was this;

What a fucking waste of $54million that ended up being.

not with him ..but saw him in action more than once... all you had to do was follow in his wake like a sea gull and pick up the remains...and some of those remains were mighty tasty!!!!!

Grace was definitely better in my baseball world. I still love Paulie though.

Konerko had better roids than Grace. Sadly Mark Grace could only shoot himself up with enough juice to get the ball into the OF. Paulie got the good stuff to get over the fences.

They are a wash. Overrated, lovable players who get a little too much idolatry behind them. Konerko was instrumental in a WS victory, something you will never get Cubs fans to understand nor appreciate.

Where does John Jaha rank in that argument? I don't really care, I just like reading the name John Jaha in a Curly Howard voice.

Not with the Cubs he wasnt.

Don't see anywhere in the thread title or first post saying anything about what teams they were on. Maybe you can start a Arizona Diamondbacks's Mark Grace is worse than Cincinnati Red's Paul Konerko thread.

I have seen a lot of Cubs vs. Sox fans dialogue on here lately. The scary part is the Sox fans make more sense to me when discussing Theo's Reign. I started this thread to get on the right side of the fence again. Konerko seemed like a class act and he was a great ballplayer. Grace just seemed like a great ballplayer and that's where it stops.

Some might say they would have lived Graces life as a ball player, v Konerko.

James, I am thinking you are just never getting on the bus, even while I hold the door open and we start moving?

A lot of stupid thoughts in this thread, so my post should be right at home. I have long thought that a player should either have speed, get on base a lot and use his speed to help him get on base and then put pressure on the pitcher/defense and steal bases OR have power. Drive the ball, hit homers and drive in runs. Grace had neither. He was a spray hitter, who hit for average, but did not drive in that many runs. He hit 3rd in the lineup and never topped 100 RBI in a season. Hell, he only topped 90 RBI 3 times. Konerko had power and hit for a pretty good average in many seasons as well. Credit where it's due, Konerko had the better career.
