I just find it amazing that I spent most of my life being told that Wrigley was "special" and one of the great places in America for specific reasons that are being destroyed. All of a sudden Ricketts buys the team and tells you that he wants to ring the cash registers so they can compete better and everyone throws up their hands and says "Eh, Wrigley wasn't that great anyways".

The specific reason it was a great place was it didn't have a jumbotron?

Fenway was much more like Old Comiskey than Wrigley Field. Old, which is nice, but not particularly pretty. Boston fans just couldn't give up the antique value of it so here it is.

Now? It's just.... eh. I guess. Is it better than US Cellular? Sure. It's not a concrete sarcophagus. But it's not even top 15, I think Kaufmann is a better place to see a game.

Not having a jumbotron is KEY to Wrigley Field. You'll be shocked how bad it looks when they put it in. How everyone just stares at it as it screams "BUY COKE YOU FAT LOSER".

RPB, there was a communal atmosphere at Wrigley, even with all the tourists and non baseball fans they still had something going there. The Sox have it too (all 3000 people at the park), it's just a different kinda crowd.

Fandom? I believe the other 28 teams have it too.

That's fair.

Also, I can see why people thought this America guy was me. Some of his stuff is just brilliant!

And yet people wanted them to play adjacent to MBFinancial Park, the first time I've ever seen a mall sell its naming rights to a fucking bank.

I'll re-phrase.

One cannot be bombarded by ads unless one wants to be bombarded by ads. When the game is going, I'm focused on the game. When we are between innings, I'm talking to my buddies and any sociable folks in the area. At any ballpark.

Yeah, saying the Cubs deserve all the ad revenue they can get is a loopy statement.

Guy who said that works in marketing. Sorta makes sense when you view it that way.

I used to think wrigley was perfect. And then I went to Stadiums like Miller Park, Target Field and Fenway and realized the experience at Wrigley wasn't as good. So I changed my mind.

BINGO !!!!!

I used to be a Wrigley sentimental sap until I got older. I went to a game at Miller Park and thought "Man is this nice....I wish the Cubs didn't play in such a dump". I still wish they would have bulldozed the place.

In the middle of the 4th inning when the kiss cam sponsored by Coke and assistant sponsored by Allstate is on the jumbotron and the PA guy is screaming his way through the promotion, you'll be pretty bombarded when your conversation with you buddy involves a lot of each of you yelling "What" because you can't hear the conversation over the bombast.

When the new Ballpark is done, everyone will like it better. Well, almost everyone. I'm looking forward to a screen to watch replays on and getting in/out of the ballpark easier, thanks to wider concourses.

You know what I hate about Crater Lake? It's just so goddamn inconvenient. Getting in and out is a chore and it really lacks modern facilities. I think there should be escalators, expanded restrooms and just a better overall fan experience at Crater Lake.

Some people might be bothered by the idea of a giant Toyota logo on Hillman Peak, but those people are just hippies so fuck them. I also just can't believe the National Park Service hasn't increased their points of sale at all around Crater Lake.

Enough is enough! Modernize Crater Lake!

Have I never attended an NBA or NHL game, or a game at another MLB or minor league stadium?

I'll be okay. Don't you fret for me.

This doesn't take a MBA degree in marketing to figure out here. Can the 7th inning "celebrity" as they're generally awful and the interviews suck and have Harry on the jumbotron.

I'd be so happy to be done with the stupid "celebrity" spots even though some decent moments came from them.

They should just have Kelly Kroll interview the person if it is just a PR stunt (AKA Someone who knows nothing about baseball or the Cubs)

Murray, Garland for example can spend 2 innings or the game in the booth. One of the guys from Journey or Survivor? forgot which one was a huge long time cubs fans. Let Len just pikc the guys to come to booth, the others can go to the Special Wrigley "Park" singing booth.
