I didn't figure Greg Norton to be much of a juicer.

Hawk doing Gleason's Nore-ton was Hawk's low point for me

He may have gotten his roids from Kerry Woods.

Actually bought tickets for the Sunday game last April with a few buddies thinking it would be PK's last game... now the Sox move the tribute to the penultimate game....

It was smart on their part. As much as I loved Konerko as a player, its Bears Packers week.

I know it makes sense ... I will be at the bear game ..would have liked to do both... have Saturday plans so I will miss the end...

Class guy .. he deserves a BIG turn out....

I was hoping for this opening day scenario... New HOFer Frank throws the ball to PK who fires it to Jose at first ...a real passing of the torch.. maybe they can do it this weekend....

Any chance Konerko does something cool like catch an inning this weekend, or maybe play a little 3rd? Biggio went back behind the plate in his final game, Paulie should do the same.

For comedic value I am 100% supportive of Paulie catching.

I doubt he will catch. Maybe he could try and steal a base.

Robin would never do that. "intergrity of the game" bullshit. On a weekend like that? Screw that. Especially if a game is out of hand one way or another. Give the fans and players alike something to smile about.

Seriously, the first time I ever heard about Creatine was in an interview with Greg Norton.

Gonna have a fly over for Paulie? And nothing says 'special ceremony" like Brian Anderson in the line of people speaking?????

And how can you have a ceremony without Sean Lowe!!!!!!!!!!! Had to look the guy up. Middle relief guy for 3 years 99-01....

and did I read someone is setting up the reason for possible low attendance to this as Bears - Packer week?

Maybe poor attendance will be due to poor marketing. I actually had 2 Sox fans ask me today if it is sat or Sun...and they said 'they are doing so many damn promotions for it..who knows when it is"

and my favroite....retiring the #14! Good guy, borderline short of HOF career, good captain....

Isnt this the stuff Sox fans keep telling me they cant stand? The gushing and overkill? A video tribute, simple ceremony that one or 2 people talk, then Paulie says thank you, unveil a statue...

But 10 people talking , with various retirement gifts, after you spent the whole month pimping the guy.

Kudos to Paulie for letting the Sox trot him out like their Dancing monkey this month, but I think they should have respected the guy more with 1 classy normal event, instead of making it into the Golden Globes.

I don't like all the marketing behind it. But the Sox have a chance to sell some tickets and that gets them all excited.

I think the gifting, the ceremonies, all that shit is stupid. Konerko had a great career for himself, everyone knows that, this is all just stupid.

Doesn't really bother me either way. Sure some of it is silly, but Konerko deserves all of it. Class act, great player, clutch hitter. Him and Jeter are prime examples of what a true Captain should be.

The guy deserves a full house and a standing O, not even a question. I think it would have helped if they just focused on one final night for the guy, not 13 and a video everyone will have already seen?

Hope you all show up

 Biggie you're just trolling Franklin and I love it.

Everything trolls Frank, I really don't need to even think about that angle. Even my Sox fan buddies think the whole thing is overkill. I asked them last night if they are going Saturday night and he said he didnt know and just didnt care.

I just need to know what Sean Lowe has to say, I might get there at 5 PM and tape it

I have a great deal of respect for Paul Konerko, who was an excellent ballplayer.

I truly thought the Konerko Night was a couple nights ago until a Sox fan told me today that it was tomorrow.

The only saving grace is that I pride myself on not knowing anything about the White Sox since my guy Beckham was unexpectedly dismissed. So, I took comfort in that.

Not a Sox fan but I always liked Konerko. That said, if Konerko is worthy of a statue, then so are the following:

Steve Larmer
Neal Anderson
Pato Margetic
Reggie Theus
Bill Buckner
