NEW YORK – Police say actress Amanda Bynes has been arrested in midtown Manhattan after she heaved a marijuana bong out of a window.
It happened at an apartment building on West 47th Street at about 7:40 p.m. Thursday.
Police say a building official called police to complain that Bynes was smoking marijuana and rolling a joint in the building's lobby.
The officers went to Bynes' apartment where they saw heavy smoke and a bong, which Bynes then threw out the window in front of the officers.
Bynes was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, and criminal possession of marijuana. It wasn't clear if she had a lawyer.
An NYPD spokesperson told FOX 411 the actress was taken to Roosevelt Hospital and was evaluated before she was taken the police station, where she spent the night. She is expected to face a judge on Friday morning.

Bynes has gotten plenty of attention in recent months for her bizarre behavior. The 27-year-old is almost unrecognizable in recent photos, which show her with bleach blonde hair and shiny cheek piercings. She has been keeping fans up to date on her latest antics via Twitter, and she recently gained many followers after she posted a shockingly vulgar tweet about rapper Drake.
Bynes first began acting in commercials at the age of 7 and was thrust into the limelight when she later became one of the stars of Nickelodeon’s comedy show “All That.” She then starred in Nickelodeon’s “The Amanda Show” from 1999-2002. Since then, her acting career has waned, and her last major role was in 2010’s “Easy A.” Before that she appeared in films like “What a Girl Wants” and “Hairspray.”

The starlet has said that there is “NOTHING wrong” with her and that she plans to launch a fashion line.

When was the last time she "worked?" I know she retired and such but where is the cash coming from for all these legal flare-ups, weed and crashed cars?

How much are her royalty checks?

We were just talking about that in my office. With the Nickelodeon show, the WB show, and the movies, she's probably got a fortune.....but she IS burning through it

She is also pretty young still, pretty messed up and she lacks the ability to self-reflect...not good. The fortune will be gone by 40 or so if this keeps up. Legal bills ain't no joke, more fucks ups equals less chance of work in the future.

I just find it strange, she retires, had no outward meltdowns during her shows or history of craziness.

She leaves acting and then breaks down.

Folks over at celebritynetworth,com say shes worth 4 million. Not a lot considering how much she seems to spending with nothing coming in.

She was on a sitcom called "What I Like About You" on the long since defunct WB Network and I thought she loaned her voice to the animated film "Robots". Amanda Bynes is in the same camp as Lindsay Lohan. Where did it all go so horribly wrong? Both are headed towards an early death.

I have nothing against Bynes or Lohan. Both seem like they want to be party girls yet lack the high school and collegiate experience required to be an efficient party girl.

The celebrity I want to see go down in flames, and is currently on track, is beiber.

I wouldn't call the cops, I'd talk to the homeowners association, but I didn't do anything and I just closed the window. I think someone else may have complained though. They don't smoke in the back nearly as much as they used to. It was cold though.
