Definitely. Hockey is a much better "TV show" than football is now, thanks to high definition, big screens, and better camera work. Three 90-second timeouts per period, two 17-minute intermissions, and action the rest of the time. You're in and out in two and a half hours and didn't spend most of it watching guys stand around slapping each other's asses.

Certainly the case for Kane's championship-winning goal in 2010 (not even all the people on the ice reacted to that), but you learn to recognize goals when you learn to recognize scoring chances, which comes with time.

Football is made for tv, while hockey is much better in person. That being said, it does get a lot easier to follow the more you watch it.

i remember that hawks playoff game where it was like "ok we can't review this play by rule, so we're going to review this play and get it right" and then on both the NBC/TSN broadcasts at intermission a panel of 3 rugged men all assured me that THE LEAGUE WAS RIGHT AS THE LEAGUE IS ALWAYS RIGHT (TM) and seriously dude, if you wanna hook me in give me some MILF with a gilded accent instead of faux-authoritative assurances that the NHL has always been at war with eastasia.
