You don't think it will though!

Dan even said that with the Cardinals, Pirates, Reds, and Brewers all being competitive within the division themselves, the Cubs' window could easily come and go without them ever making the playoffs, and that's just fine, because at least they did it their way. Get the fuck out of here.

Danny and to a lesser extent Terry really hedge all there bets like this.

Let's cut to the chase and get back to it. Time to start over.

Do you believe in Theo's plan*? YES OR NO

*-By Theo's plan, I mean if you think it will be successful in making them competitive for years and give them a great chance of making the World Series.

There is a strong possibility it works out eventually, at least for a few years.

*I am NOT ok with the losing for three years. I know there ARE better and quicker ways to rebuild and I would have preferred those. I dont know if it will have been worth it, unless they actually win a world series.

Got it.

I will no longer say you don't believe in Theo's plan.

So as predicted BernSTINE is hammering Gordon W on points that Gordon didn't even raise. I thought Gordon w made it clear that he understands what the Cubs are doing with Bryant....so what is BermSTINE talking about?

Who was crapping all over The Plan? When did he even say he "didnt get it" concerning The Plan?

Once again, BernSTNE takes the cowards way out and constructs the straw man.

Again, The(o) Plan is bad yesterday, today and tomorrow because it involved actively and unnecessarily tanking three seasons.

All of those trades, all of those picks (save Bryant) could have been accomplished with a good team...a team of competent players signed to three year deals that would have all been concluded just as the prospects became MLB ready.

The(o) Plan is bad because it voluntarily conceded three (and counting) World Series.

Are you under the impression that the White Sox have been trying to win the World Series the past couple of years?

Two years ago they most definitely were. This year was a clean up year that didn't allow all holes to be filled (hey, hey) but they added a lot of young MLB level talent. They certainly have not been trying to lose.

The philosophy that includes conceding years to win is abhorrent.

Basically, yeah. Dan just said this was a bit, it has to be a bit, everyone at the Cubs is laughing at him, and his employer will go out of business. Not his best work.

Theo has been in charge 3 years.
Hahn has been in charge for 2 years.

Given that Hahn took over a division contender and Theo a team drafting in the bottom 10 I don't see why the pitchforks are reserved for only one guy.

There are NO pitchforks out for Theo. I have not seen one person seriously say he should be fired.

Hahn will have a lot of pitchforks pointed at him if he has this same record in year 3.

Pitchforks is the wrong word.

Essentially, Hahn has gotten a pass for taking a division contender into the shitter.

Theo has gotten roasted for taking time getting a team out of the shitter.

That is going to change quickly.

It may only take them not firing Robin for it to happen.

Theo should be fired if the Cubs miss the playoffs next year.

Hahn should be fired in the next 2 years if the Sox aren't in the playoffs.

Considering what he said yesterday, and having heard Wittenmyer's response today, he totally wussed out. Invoking WWE and then going on to admit the plan may not work means he's full of shit in most of what he says.

Wait.... so "The Plan"..... the greatest thing ever done until James resigned in Cleveland, is now NOT the standard winner?

It's still the right thing to do, it just may not be enough if the other four teams are still better than the Cubs are, and that's okay, because you can't account for all four teams being better than you. The Plan was the best thing ever until it wasn't at which point it never was.

Basically Dan just plays the role of the classic chicken-shit heel, an integral and time-tested money-making gimmick; the problem is there's no hometown face for him to put over which is the part of the equation that's actually important.

(Just because nobody here knows what the hell I'm saying or, more likely accurate, will publicly admit to understanding my point doesn't make me wrong in this case, btw) :D

I'm tired of citing it, but more tired of Dan doing it.

I can't get over the learned helplessness of ascribing "well, we tried and they're all better than us, I guess I'm fresh out of ideas" to the Cubs. That's what teams say when they have an "internal cap."

It looks like the entire Sun-Times has declared war on li'l danny. From Telander today:

Just trust Theo, they peep from their brown bog. He’s a genius, and everyone else is dumb."
