The "Big Machines" showed up today like Bernstein said! They are taking down the 2014 sign! and they are working on the Pylons for the Scoreboard.

They have been doing a ton of undergorund work in the streets around the area for almost a year now. The sewers at this point better be ready!!

For the time , effort, planning, money, etc behind all this, to date, havent seen many results. It's not that nothing is going on, but not much.

Here are a couple of pics from today, will be updating this thread.

You must construct additional pylons.

They have now cleared out the entire site of the future triangle building, have fences on Sheffield and Waveland blocked off....all clear for big construction to start. Not just digging some holes, pouring more concrete, etc.

Of course, everyone should remember danny saw the big machines there...maybe they will return soon!

It's only been a week and they are doing work, it's not the place is silent, but it sure isnt a large crew of machines. At the same time, the guys who own the machines, dont just sit around hpping that the Cubs want to do this, they are booked months out for this work and I am sure they gave the Cubs a deadline as to when they needed a contract signed to be there in October...and if they get pushed back on some other jobs, they need to finish those as well.

But seeing that the area that everyone has been using for a parking lot is 100% cleared out, I am looking for Digatron to land there soon...or an ice Rink! :D

and thats why it is a tent...same with the official cubs store...a tent with 2 cargo containers, they could clear those places in a few hours.

Well none of that is really cosmetic, it's being done so they can build the pylons. Tearing down a non structural brick wall and rebuilding it, is kind of easy and can be done pretty quickly...20 guys, rebuild the whole bleachers wall in a week.....assuming the brick is there.

is it just me or does chus' first picture look like it's featuring a bunch of misc skeletal remains dug up from under the stadium? maybe it's the first glance combined with the glare of the sun and all that.... but wow, it looks like that impish/trollish lovechild of elmhurst steve and cubbiegirlshamus (WHERE ARE YA PARK RIDGE STEFFERS?!?! WE NEED YOU ON THE CSFMB!) that lives in a secret network of catacombs under wrigley has been busy dining on human flesh over the years.

or maybe they switched out the remains of every member of the 1908 world champion cubs and secretly buried the team under wrigley to try and bless them with enough good luck to undo the goat curse and all that? idk. it's official cub business that i know nothing about.

The skeletons were dug up a few years ago when they expanded the bleachers, all that stuff is relativley new. The old bleachers rested on the brick wall, the old foundation, now it's a steel structure with a brick wall that supports nothing...it was less than 5 years old.

Has Tom Tunney or anybody bitched about all of the noise this work is causing?

A) security is awfully tight, not one scrap of brick anywhere
B) Today is officially "Groundbreaking Day" So I would like to thank everyone who tried to tell me they started FULL construction, but they admittingly hadn't. Now, what are they waiting for? I have no idea.

The re-branding as "1060" is an excellent idea. Really Smart Guys probably worked for weeks on this. For those of you who didn't know, that's the address. Now everyone will know exactly where the park is! Sheer genius! I'm sure this plan was hatched one Saturday at Shul, unless Julian Green came up with it on his own.

Whose going to Shul? Theo alone? No way he has done that in....since he was 13.

To be honest, it should have been a GREAT marketing tool for the past 2 years, you could have sold the crap out of it. Sell the old bricks, the troughs, cubs construction helmets, safety vests.,..ornage cub hats....I have pushed it on my guy Judd for the past 2 years. A Cubs logo done in Blueprint as the Logo, the sales opps are endless.

Shit, you could sell each of the Bricks for $50,....

I still have my wooden seats...3 seats of 2, that I bought for $5 each...back in 1989...they had a pile of old seats to give away and sold them instead of tossing them.

The idea is easy, it's implementing it thats the problem.

Lotsa coffee cup holders over there, smile, say nice things, OK....not so much action,
