I have been very ambivalent about Cam Newton. I wanted the Panthers to lose today. I don't dislike him, like the seemingly irrational Hub Arkush, but I just haven't had a string of things that have led me to root for him.

But, that block he put on Briggs was one of an actual caring football player. He let Briggs know the end is coming.

He is fun to watch...if he ever develops a lighter touch, he'll be unstoppable.

I thought the block was overrated. They acted like he pancaked him. He did not... and he probably weighs more than Briggs (discounting for love handles).

Yeah, that was more of a "WOW! HE REALLY KNOCKED HIM OFF-BALANCE!"

In truth, for that game, he should have gotten 15 for a blindside block.

I liked Hampton's comment on WMAQ later where he said you know where the Bears are at when the opposing quarterback is nailing our linebackers. Was definitely not a key block - Briggs wasn't going to catch him anyway.

Newton played OK, but it seems pretty clear they are not ready to run with him yet... a lot of "fake" running going on where he would pitch it or throw it at the last second. Definitely not the game he used to play, but maybe still needs a few weeks for those ribs.
