I would not have thought this at the beginning of the year (mainly because I never thought he'd be available).

Now, I agree. He's a proven difference-maker that's still hungry and in his prime. You don't get that, well, ever, and the Bears have an inside track with his Chicago ties.

Won't happen. But they should do it.

Can't see the Bears firing Trestman after just two years. They're not that kind of organization. They're in Lake Forest. They're nice.

I agree. It won't happen.

But Harbaugh is a far better option.

Trestman's job shouldn't be on the line yet. Besides the Bears aren't playing the $8M a year it would take to sign him. The Bears are rebuilding on the fly and Trestman should be given another year unless the Bears only win a couple more games this season.

It's not about Trestman's job. Harbaugh is proven and could coach for 15 years.

When's the last time a coach like Harbaugh was available? Parcells?

If the Niners fire Harbaugh the only place he's going is to Ann Arbor to coach the Wolverines.

Honestly what coach would want to come here anyway? The QB is a bum, the defense is shit and the playing "surface" is a joke.

If the Bears finish under .500 Trestman needs to go. Tucker should be fired soon thereafter.

He'd choose the Bears over Michigan.

That's not even a question.

The Bears won't offer him though.

The issue would probably be the contract. Who knows if he'd be able to coach in the NFL.

No way the McClaskeys would ever hire someone like Harbaugh.

Can you imagine Ted Phillips sitting across from Harbaugh?

Halas would have hired him yesterday.

I'm disturbed that my iPhone autocorrects Halas to Hamas. But the Hamas would have hired him yesterday, too.

No way. Michigan will pay him handsomely and could be turned around. The Bears are a broken mess that are unfixable as long as diabeetus is the QB.

Michigan is a far more broken mess than the Bears.

Every former QB guy thinks they can fix Cutler. Plus, he'd run the ball.

The players have turned on Harbaugh. He'll never last 5 years let alone 15. He's got a little Scott Skiles in him. Good coach but poor people skills.

They turned on him because they know management is against him.

Mike McCaskey will have his back. Woof. Woof.

Can't see Emery and Harbaugh working well together. Talk about oil and water.

Emery and Trestman are clones of each other comparing stories of getting wedgies in elementary school.

He doesn't suck but after spending what they did on this offense, the verdict is in. He isn't going to unlearn the bad habits he's learned and there is no amount of money tossed at the offense that will change the fact that the guy who leads it will turn the ball over and have fits of inaccuracy that should not happen at this level. The Bears will not win with that.

This year was it. There are no more excuses I can possibly make for this guy. My dumbass would probably still try if I thought there were.

It really makes you wonder. How can he have run such a well oiled machine in the CFL and then wet the bed like this. It just isn't that different of a game. If you get outcoached, fine, learn from it. But some of this looks like systemic shit that appears tied to the franchise no matter who they bring in.

I mean the one single thing you'd expect this guy to have down is the play clock. He's got an extra 20 seconds to work with and his offense looks late way too much. The delay penalties are not quite Lovie Smith but it shouldn't happen at all from a guy that was just three years removed from a 20 second play clock in the CFL.

See...you get it Ken. Fuckin' A right. The Bears had the chance to hire Harbaugh a few years ago, but decided not to fire Love for Jim.

You don't make the same mistake twice...

I admit, I was duped. I thought this team would be very good. I was wrong, and unless something drastic changes the Bears are likely to miss the playoffs again. Trestman's honeymoon is over, and this team and organization should be ashamed of themselves.

That, and running on first down all goddamn day long. The play-calling was awful. The special teams unit is the worst unit I've ever seen, and I mean that. The entire team is undisciplined. Joe D should be fired today, and I'm losing faith in Trestman.

The most bizarre thing is that the Bears made Cutler the highest paid quarterback in the league and now the strategy seems to be to make him into a game manager. Trestman seems to have lost faith in Cutler.

Trestman isn't a head coach though. His only chance of success is if they hire Rex Ryan as defensive coordinator next year and basically Trestman is basically just running the offense.
