Well, if Cutler isn't a major problem then someone else has to be.

Well, he is tied for 2nd in TD passes and 5th in getting sacked.

I don't agree with that logic. There are a lot of problems on this team.

Bears are averaging exactly 20 PPG. It's one thing to never make a mistake, it's another to average 2 touchdowns and two field goals.

I'm more concerned about their inability to get 1 yard on a damn run when they need to than the fact that Cutler is only 2nd in the NFL in TDs.

Tied for first (last?) in interceptions.

But let's focus on him and not the defense.
The Bears spend very little on defense compared to most of the league. The defense is bad but that is what happens when you stock your offense like they have.

I believe the front 4 make somewhere north of $60M this year (or maybe on avg).

I'm comfortable saying that they are FAR under-performing the value of their collective $$. More than the QB.

Except for Willie Young, 100% agree.

The Bears have the 6th lowest salary cap hit on defense.

I can confidently say without having to look it up that the Bears front 4 are not making $60+ million this year.

If the Bears lose, it's party time for all of the QB haters. No matter how the game actually plays out, it's always Jay Cutler's fault. Everybody pile on the QB. Hell, he had 3 TD's halfway through the 2nd Q and I still heard people bitching about the 1 INT instead.

Nevermind that the defense is terrible and has no idea where the opposing QB is.
Nevermind that the defense has given up 92 points in their 3 losses (31 yesterday to a team without a WR or a RB).
Nevermind that Green Bay scored 38 points in 3 quarters last week and never punted, it was Cutler's fault.
Nevermind that the special teams is worse than nonexistent. At this point the Bears would be better off sending the punter and long snapper out there alone and just kicking it out of bounds on every 4th down. At least the chance for a penalty would be greatly reduced.
Nevermind that the Bears were still looking at a win until Forte fumbled, it was Cutler's INT that was more costly.

Cutler is not Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. He never will be. But he's also not Craig Krenzel, Moses Moreno, Steve Stenstrom, or Rex Grossman, or............. Many Bears "fans" have a short memory about the QB position in this town.

Could Cutler have played better? Absolutely. But that goes for every single Bear yesterday.
I have never seen/heard so many "fans" of a team celebrate a loss like these supposed Bears "fans" do.

I wasn't celebrating but its the most important position by far and he continues to not live up to the hype

He always makes that one bad play in crunch time

Its not the fans or defenses fault that he has a knack for throwing picks in crucial spots.

Forte has a careers worth of equity built up. If Cutler was as good as Forte he'd get similar treatment

Jay Cutler = 3 turnovers
Matt Forte = 1 turnover

If we are holding Forte responsible for "losing" the game then doesn't Cutler get even more blame?

I love spanky's "bitching about the 1 int" line considering the dude leads the nfl in INTs.

12 of those where to Forte . He was dinking and dunking Steve Walsh style.

My favorite quote at work today, "That Cutler is a nice guy. He gives the ball to everyone, no matter what team they are on."

#1, I didn't know you worked with Harry at The Game

#2, We used to bitch about Cutler forcing throws, and not checking it down. Now he checks it down and still gets shit on?

Spany is right, Bears fans are fucking morons.

Dude is a Green Bay fan. It has not been a pleasant couple weeks. Another co-worker told him, "Green Bay wins one game against the Bears and you act like they won the Super Bowl." The guy responds, "They have been beating the Bears for 12years."

The funny thing is that the argument spanky is making is one of the major reasons why the contract they gave him was a horrible idea.

Why should we make Cutler the highest paid quarterback in the league? Well, he's not Craig Krenzel!

I love the "best QB bears ever had" argument, especially from people who accuse others of not looking at context.

That is not the argument at all. The argument is that there are a LOT of problems with this team. Lots of coaches and players are performing poorly. The QB is only part of the problem, but its what everybody talks about.

Reading is hard.

His argument is that it was a bad idea to give Cutler all that money, unless he plays well enough to cover for the lesser talented players around him. Those lesser talented players being that because the Bears now have significantly less resources to devote to the rest of the team.

So, considering the above, every time you or spanky or anyone else starts railing about the many problems the team has and why they arent winning, it really is only bolstering Rick's original argument from when the contract was signed. And just so nobody is confused because reading is hard, this isn't blaming Cutler. It's blaming Emery.
