There are some interesting NBA futures too. The Mavs are +5,000 to win the title. NBA fans, doesn't that seem like a value? They have the same odds as the Knicks.

It's decent value, I guess, but the Mavs are not winning the NBA title next year. It'd be throwing money away.

You would have said the same thing before their championship season a couple years back as well.

I would say the Mavs at +5000 are a real good value

I probably would have, but I also called them to win the Finals halfway into their 2nd round series with LA that year. They were a real good team. I like that they got Chandler back but I'm not sure he's better than a Calderon/Dalembert combo right now, not sure how much Dirk has left, and honestly just can't see them advancing even 1 round next year. They match up great with SA but I get the feeling that LAC, Portland, OKC would blow the doors off them. Phoenix got better too. It might be tough for them to even make the playoffs next season.

If I'm looking at crazy NBA futures bets for the Finals I'm looking at Eastern teams. I bet Washington and Charlotte would get really big odds just to make the Finals, and I think both could make a shocking surprise trip next year.

Barring injuries, they are making the playoffs next year.

I am not saying they will win it all or even advance far, but a lineup of Felton, Monta, Parsons, Dirk and Chandler is pretty solid and will be a hard out for a team in the playoffs.

Isn't Felton going to prison? Regardless, he's trash.

Forgot about the Parsons move. He's gonna help tremendously.

You forgot to mention their 2nd best asset next to Dirk, Carlisle.

Agree they make the playoffs though, just won't be easy. Like always I guess in the West.

I dunno. How did the linesmen miss Jeff Carter jumping the blue line on his goal in the next game? We're all only human.

Nobody is. But they've made it five years in a row and I think it's fair to say they're as automatic as any team in the league is.

Packers are automatic. The Cutler and Stafford extensions have guaranteed the Packers the division for at least the next 3 years. The Vikings could be scary in 1-2 two years. Emery is a clown so I'm not worried about the Bears as long as he's employed.

Why are Packers fans so hung up on the Bears? Worry about your own team.

#Bulls are #1 on Carmelo's list. Up to them to make it happen. Must clear $15-17 MM cap space, possible sign/trade.

When Greg Maddux won his 300th game, a caller asked B&B, if they thought he could get to 350. The caller was mocked and called an idiot. Maddux ended up with 355 wins.

According to Bernstine's super secret Bulls source, Derek Rose is badly out of shape and his minutes will be limited (35 mpg).

Terry's Bulls source parroted what Dan's source leaked.

According to Dan's U of I source, Tim Beckman will be replaced by a minority coach. He said the same thing about Bruce Weber, who was replaced by John Groce, a man who is many kinds of "guys" but most certainly not a "black guy."

Anybody half-following Illini politics would know that. It was practically a war to get Groce hired.

The tough part is that there aren't that many candidates right now that would be available.

The best option at this point is probably Turner Gill and he was horrible at Kansas.

Mel Tucker will probably be looking for work in a few months.

Was it down to Groce and Reggie Theus? From how high up was the insistence on a black coach?

Actually, it would almost certainly have to be Dino Babers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dino_Babers

He is still very unproven but he brings up tempo offense.

Theus was a rumor. A guy on the board cancelled the plane to pick up Groce from Ohio. He called him a "second-tier coach" because he was mad Shaka Smart didn't want to come.

10/17, Dan predicts no one will watch the MLB playoffs with KC and S Fran.

it'll get worse ratings then some dogshit NFL game, sure. And 'NCIS' is really popular, too. Dan knows all about baseball hurting the ratings.

Not a very bold prediction. Terry predicting the Cubs will be breathing down Matheny'e neck next year may be slightly bold with Dan chiming in they'll get 2 pitchers with one being a stud this offseason.

Here is a chance for me to say something on this subject I have been saying for a while. Who gives a rat's ass? Either you like it and watch or don't. MLB has their cash and the ratings number means nothing to the person viewing or not.
