I've been accused many times of "hating Jay Cutler" which I don't think is accurate. I wouldn't root for his success outside of wearing a Bears jersey and I have found his career here to be disappointing. However, that is not the point.

It seems some people on here actually like Jay Cutler. Can you give me an explanation why? It goes beyond just rooting for him because he is on the Bears.

Let's say that Jay Cutler was instead on the Arizona Cardinals. What redeeming qualities does he have that would make you like him? Do you think that if you worked with him that you would be friends?

Since I started the thread, I'll say that I've known people like Jay Cutler, and I did not root for their success and I did not like them.

I think he's kind of a tool.

Best Bears QB in my lifetime. Hard to give up on a guy with that kind of talent after spending years watching Vince Evans and Bob Avellini and Rusty Lisch or Mike Phipps or etc......

Never met him and never was on the same campus of of 25k+ people (that I know of), so I have no overblown feelings of affection toward Cutler.

For me, I don't really care about his surliness and all the outside stuff. He's just a guy people think is good because of his skills, but really isn't good because of his results. It's like looking at Gary Pettis and telling me he's better than Dave Gallagher just because you think he should be rather than based on what's really happening.

I've never met you either. You can't have an opinion on whether you like or dislike me?

Sometimes I appreciate his red-assedness when it's appropriate.

Sometimes he just seems like he's being a jerk. I can't listen to his show because the tone of his voice generally irritates me.

So, basically, if Jay Cutler was on the Cardinals then no one so far would like him. Got it...

This. I would have zero opinion of him if he were playing for another team, unless he was playing against the Bears on a given Sunday.

I am officially off of the bandwagon, though. I was an "apologist" but this year has me changing sides. It's hilarious, because in the span of the five games this year I went from agreeing with Nas to agreeing with BRick!!! 8)

Don't forget Rick Mirer. I like Jay because he is good. I do not care if he is elite or not. He is a slave to his market as set by the market so people expect more. I think he is good and I love that he is a little Stableresque.

Well, it can't be because he's a great quarterback.

There are plenty of subtle jabs about not liking Jay Cutler or it is flat out said whenever anyone criticizes him. I'm just trying to gauge how others feel.

There is a long list of quarterbacks I like or dislike from other teams. I'm pretty neutral on Carson Palmer though.

That's quite a rallying cry. Jay Cutler: At least he isn't Rusty Lisch!

It's the truth.

Don't blame me because the Bears made us all hope for the hidden value of a Chad Hutchinson for 35 years.

Who the hell cares if he's the best Bears quarterback since Biblical Times?

As spanky illustrates, Bears quarterbacking has largely been an endless parade of comical incompetence.

That Cutler ranks as the tallest midget in this class is no great feat.

His stature is further diminished when we compare him to the current cohort of NFL quarterbacks.

He is a slightly above average quarterback, nothing more. Mediocrity should not be celebrated; it should be purged--especially if it is drastically overpriced mediocrity.

I actually like Jay Cutler and his assholish demeanor, it entertains me. Can't say I like his quarterbacking as much.
