I wonder if they will try to clone him.

Champion horse Cigar, a two-time Horse of the Year, has died at 24, according to multiple industry reports.

Cigar, who won 16 races in a row from 1994 to 1996, earned nearly $10 million throughout his racing days. His trainer, Bill Mott, confirmed the horse's passing via text to the Daily Racing Forum.

During his streak, the prized horse won the 1995 Breeders' Cup and the inaugural Dubai World Cup in 1996 before he retired soon after. At that point, his official earnings of $9,999,815 made him the leading earner in horseracing.

Since 1999, Cigar had lived at Kentucky Horse Park where tourists often came just to see him. The Hall of Fame horse, owned by Allen Paulson, reportedly died while recovering from neck surgery.

At your age you better hope it's a B12 shot.

Waiting for JORR to give a eulogy, as well as a quick story about how much he won/lost on him.

Cigar was here in 1996 at Arlington. He won 16 in a row, his 16th being here. I'm pretty sure JORR was there.

Saw him at the horse park. People at the park said the horse was a piece of shit. Apparently bit the thumb off a groom and wreaked havoc with others.

You serious or making that up? I've read from my horse racing twitter friends that he was known for biting people.

It was what the guy at the park told us, so take it for its worth.

Somewhat related, take the free tour of the Claiborne Farm if you are down that way. War Front and Blame are beautiful horses. The farm is just a masterpiece and its pretty neat to see all the horses that were buried there.

Yeah, I was there. It was hotter than hell that day. I remember I forgot to grab my cap leaving the house and by about the fourth race I was getting a bad sunburn on my head. I went and paid about $20 or something for a Cigar cap.

I never really liked the horse and I tried to beat him a lot of times. The first time I noticed him was when he beat Holy Bull in the Donn the day Holy Bull broke down. I think I tried to beat him with Eltish at Arlington that day. Pretty sure my man, Eddie Delahoussaye was riding Eltish. The day he finally lost to Dare And Go I was racing two horses at the State Fair in Springfield. I liked Dare And Go but didn't get a chance to bet.
