All summer blockbuster movies will suck when analyzed critically. If you're looking for dumb but somewhat interesting fun then a summer blockbuster by Nolan or whomever is likely a good candidate.

I'd say they got progressively blander the more the budget and popular interest increased. Anyway most directors with an ounce of self respect would rightfully take umbrage at someone calling their movies dumb, except for Michael Bay.

True but overhyped and hardy had big shoes to fill. Bale was Bale. His best acting was not with Nolan although Prestige was close. Inception though was not good.

The problem with inception is the same problem afflicting most summer blockbusters: gratuitous violence, car chases, etc. to attract the broadest audience possible. Cuts into the substance of a movie. I suppose one could and probably should tell me to shut the hell up and watch indie movies instead. Thing is I am drawn to big budget films too, I just wish the cliche stuff was toned down a lot.

the problem with "inception" was that it took a 20 minute idea and bloated into a 2 and a half hour borefest.

I caught this on Saturday afternoon. Definitely a great flick. But I thought the ending could have been done better. Everything just seemed very rushed, and some characters didn't get any resolution.

Also, Doogie Howser is a friggin moron.

Saw this on Friday night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I never read the book and didn't read any reviews on it, just
went in and took it for what it was. There were some good twists and turns in there and a few believability issues
that you could analyze and turn on its ear but I really liked it. There were definitely some WTF moments and it
definitely was good for post movie conversation with the girlfriend.

for the most part, this is a very well done film. i do agree that the ending is dragged out a bit--and it differs a bit from the book's ending construction. i think it works a lot better in the book, actually, because it makes the situation seem a little more realistic as far as a marriage...whereas the ending here makes one of the characters hard to take seriously anymore. i actually thought one of tanner's observations about reality tv would've made a great final scene..."show don't tell", after all.

david fincher's not really good at that. he plays around with symbolism a bit--i think my favorite is the use of the cat. a consistent, unchanging animal, loyal and faithful, docile, peaceful and serene. everything their marriage isn't, basically. but then there's some exposition among the characters that would've served better as visual commentary rather than verbal.

i thought the social satire was spot on and pitch perfect. the court of public opinion sometimes is more important than the supreme court. it doesn't matter what reality or the truth is--it matters what people think. and there's nothing more evident than what you see on a daily basis in news now. it doesn't matter how much truth there is in a story--we've already made up our minds what we think once we see the headline.

the funny thing is that there were probably a few dozen nick and amy's sitting in the theatre i was in, enjoying the film and not recognizing at all that they were the targets of the mockery and debasement.

the basic point is that truth does not have any power over perception. it's scary to think this could easily happen, and probably does, and we don't even know about it.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Saw it today. had no idea what it was about going in, didn't even know it was a book. Most of it was pretty good but the ending fucking reeked. That student had some great fucking tits Ill say that.

Just saw it.
Good overall but really lazy ending. You can tell they were going for "oooooh, lets leave the audience asking questions" but instead it came across as "I can't possibly continue writing a story this twisted and fucked up so I'll just end it here".
But like I said, good movie. I would definitley recommend it.
The music and lighting and sexuality definitely give off a Basic Instinct vibe.

Saw this last night. Liked it till the last half hour or so, then it went to shit. Ruined the whole movie for me.

Huge plot holes turned this into a joke. Neil Patrick Harris' house was totally wired with surveilance and it was all recorded. So what happens when the cops take a look and see that there's no footage of her being tied to the bed, there's tons of footage of her hanging out as a guest. Just a HUGE plot hole that make the entire movie a joke.

Only redeeming quality of the film was the young girls' tits and the main chick's ass.

 out of

Finally watched this last night. Pretty good movie. The last 20-30 minutes were kind of pointless.

Just saw it the other day as it's playing on HBO.

Loved it.

Ben Affleck's typical horrible acting didn't even ruin this movie.

Yeah, DW recorded this while we have gratis HBO and I can honestly say...
This was a real piece of shit.
The last 20-30 minutes of the movie might have been the stupidest plot twist ever. Just stupid as FUCK. Stupid. As FUCK.
STUPID.
Might be in the team photo for worst ending ever. ever. ever. And that includes some terrible King endings.
Seriously. SHIT.

The ending didn't bother me cuz I really enjoyed the rest of it. Of course, it didn't make sense. The credit card fraud didn't make sense. The fact that Doogie howser had his house recorded didn't make sense that the cops didn't look at that. She'd have been caught in real life. But I liked the story otherwise. Sometimes you have to have bullshit moments to make a movie like this. You have to suspend disbelief with movies like this.

Everything leading up to that RIDICULOUS ending was good. Even Tyler Perry was less than insufferable in that movie. But Jesus that last reel was total shit.

As I was watching it I knew there was no clean way to end it unless she was arrested. I mean they had her on the credit card fraud to set up the husband. Christ, the guy said he wasn't a golfer yet he bought gold stuff. Why would she do that? Plus the surveillance video in Doogie Howser's house would show she wasn't kidnapped or kept against her will.

One thing I didn't get. She said she was reliant on her parents trust fund. Which was only 1 million or so. Wasn't she rich as hell from her career? I just didn't get that they had money trouble.

no, she wasn't rich. they both lost their jobs in the recession. and if you're thinking about the children's books, those were written by her mother. the trust fund existed because of that book series.

the twist wasn't at the end, it was in the middle of the story. after that it is pretty clear what will happen. the satire could've been stronger at the end but overall i thought it was a hoot.
