Urlacher was originally tried at the position formerly known as strongside linebacker but he simply couldn't shed the blockers. They moved him to middle so that he could roam.

They figured it out pretty quick. He was Defensive Rookie of the Year and a Pro Bowler his first year.

His 2nd year was statistically one of the best seasons for a linebacker in the past couple decades. Then Lovie came...

...and what? Helped him reach the HoF status his raw talent suggested he could reach?

He was great for Lovie's defense but it took away most of his aggressiveness for his coverage ability.

He was going to the Hall of Fame whether Lovie graced his life or not.

Right, he'd be just as confused as you are right now. Stat line parroting is both your ceilings.

"he was open other times and he dropped some passes." That is your criteria for a WR "owning" a cornerback. If you can do so without pulling a muscle, just sit and think about that for a minute.

I like Frank. He's a friendly guy.

Fuller is a good player right now. He has potential to be great.

Fuller was praised heavily for his work on Benjamin during the broadcast. That's not conclusive of anything. However, don't you find it a bit compelling that several good-great WR have now had bad games when matched up against him?

Doesn't matter. Benjamin was open a lot.

Watch the damn game

I find Fuller to be very good at breaking off his man once the ball is in the air to another receiver. His reaction time and ability to accelerate to that area seem very strong to me.

That's going to get him a couple picks per year on stuff that isn't even directed at him.

All I said was Benjamin had his way with him that game. Benjamin had 3 catches for 40 and 4 drops. He was targeted 11 times. So it's not like Fuller had him blanketed. Never said anything about the other ones.

A simple statement gets the two idiot superfans all riled up b/c all they can do is read a stat line.

because of an all world quarterback

That last TD to Quarless yesterday is a good example of the greatness of Rogers. He wasn't open. The LB had great coverage. Rogers threw him open.

And Dave Wanstedt once thought that outside of those two 75 yard TD runs, the Bears Defense had their way with Emmit Smith.

If he was targeted 11 times, as you said, and only had 3 catches, don't you think the CB had something to do with that?

He went 8 steps down the field stopped and turned around, real tough throw.

Watch the play again. The LB did not even have good coverage, let alone great. He allowed himself to get boxed out and not have a chance to affect the play. Outside of just falling on his ass, he couldn't have done a worse job.

There is a picture in the journal sentinel this morning that shows the linebacker lunging at Quarless but never makes contact. He is standing straight up and down after catching the ball, fantastic coverage.

I'll defer to the superfan experts here on whether the defender is a glove on Quarless.

The guy just assumes the bolded segment as fact. Guess it's true.

Quote:
Baltimore Ravens LB C.J. Mosley A Lock For 2014 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year

When the Baltimore Ravens lost legendary linebacker Ray Lewis to retirement after winning the Super Bowl in 2013, many were uncertain as to where future leadership and production would come from. The ensuing season saw aging linebacker Terrell Suggs’ production dip slightly while newly acquired linebacker Daryl Smith shined in a career season, leading the Ravens with 123 tackles. However, many didn’t see Smith as the long-term answer. Enter rookie C.J. Mosley, the next great Ravens linebacker.

The 2014 NFL Draft first-round pick has exploded onto the scene, not only leading Baltimore in tackles, but currently ranking fifth in the NFL with a total of 57. Mosley has managed to stand out in the middle of a star-studded linebacking corps that includes former Pro Bowl selections Suggs and Elvis Dumervil. Fans fell in love with the Alabama product in just his second game, a winning performance against Baltimore’s bitter rival Pittsburgh Steelers, where Mosley recorded 10 tackles and recovered his own forced fumble.

Mosley’s most notable performance came in a road loss to the Indianapolis Colts where he notched 15 tackles and the first interception of his career. Even though the Ravens didn’t earn a desirable result, it was impossible to miss Mosley’s impact on the game. He has proven to be the best player on one of the NFL’s top defenses and has the statistics to back his performance, leading the Ravens in tackles in every game since Week 2.

Sure, Chicago Bears defensive back Kyle Fuller and Buffalo Bills linebacker Preston Brown aren’t going to roll over and hand Mosley the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. Fuller and Brown both got off to hot starts, but neither will be able to sustain their pace the way Mosley will. His role as the centerpiece of the Ravens’ defense will continue to grow, and he is on pace to finish with around 160 tackles, a number that would have been good for a top-five finish last year.

Mosley has even proven be outstanding in pass coverage this season. Despite being a linebacker, his six passes defended rank second amongst rookies. The only reasonable criticism of Mosley thus far is his failure to record a sack through Week 6, but those stats appear to be coming after he just missed on three hits on Mike Glennon this week.

There is little uncertainty that the Ravens have found their next great linebacker. The torch has been passed and Mosley will pick up right where Lewis left off, beginning with winning the 2014 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Yeah, I believe we have won that argument.

Good luck with your Fuller/Benjamin argument still in process, however

I have been consistent with that as well. Unfortunately I cannot get Dan Bernstien's notes on line play in each game and everyone else only watches the ball
