Wow. The cockpits of those things are incredibly sturdy, it looks almost like he hit the dozer at such an angle that managed it to jump as he slid underneath it. Head getting crushed is probably the instantaneous death for open-wheelers.

I think the worst crash i've seen in real-time anger was Dan Wheldon at Vegas a few years ago. Everyone who saw it almost immediately knew it was fatal.

I think so, but can't quite remember--I think he had just talked about a baseball player having a bad game, and then followed it with something like "Meanwhile in Bologna, Ayrton Senna also had a bad day..."
