32/32 through two, sure seems that way.

Gotta love how things are with the Blackhawks and video review. The one time when they can't wash out a goal, they say how much they wish they could.

46/47 through regulation for Hiller. Stole at least one point for a really shitty team that can't do anything right. The Hawks are doing wonderful things for other goalies' save percentages.

Pretty embarrassing game, but sometimes a goalie stops 49 shots and a whole bunch more get blocked, what are you gonna do. Hawks continue to be the kings of point inflation, at least, I guess.

Would have loved another point but 5 in 3 games is pretty sweet.

Especially considering they only 65-minute-won one game out of three.

96-32 Hawks in total shots. Jonas Hiller can go stick a hot rusty dildo up his ass.

I agree with stat piece on shots. Hiller may have blocked 50 of them but a lot of those were really weak-ass shots. Not traffic in front of Hiller + 1-7 on power play is a deserved loss. This was not a good game.

They play like that every game, and they'll win 75% or more of their games.

Not comfortable saying a game with 96 shots was bad. So every one of those 96 wasn't a precision strike for the top shelf? You have to expect that a low-talent team like the Flames is going to be particularly adept at shot-blocking, because it's the easiest way to level the playing field when you don't have the weapons for a good transition game. All you have to do is literally lie down and take it. As for the 50 of those Hiller saw, there were several times where they almost had him not once but twice. Carcillo had a goal on his stick and blew it, but everyone's going to make that play and blow it at some point on the season. We just notice it more, rather counterintuitively, when it's a guy who isn't expected to score that goal.

Whatever, it was a weird game where all you can do is throw up your hands and say "they all even out in the end."

Lots of turnovers in the first period. I don't think I like Richards. As soon as I yelled get Sharp off the point on the power play he shot it and Shaw tipped it in. I thought the game was good. They were shooting, not the best always, but they weren't flat. Most of their time was spent in the offensive zone. Sometimes the puck doesn't find the net. The game had that lose 2-1 feel to it.

Kyle Cumiskey's a goner already. This after Q said he was "awesome." Does this mean we're committing to David Rundblad on the third pairing? Gah.

Sheldon Brookbank took a job with a KHL team, by the way, and I'm pretty sure if you try to defect back to the NHL midseason, they kill you, so he's out.

Lots of good teams are just as shaky to start the year as the Hawks are, if not shakier: Dallas, Boston, Los Angeles, holy shit New York. Keep an eye on the Islanders, though; I think they're going to start hot and stay hot. Leddy got his first goal for them last night!

I stopped listening to Q. He says a lot of stuff that makes me go "huh?". I am not sure he is the best judge of talent either. He's just been given so many great players that even an average coach would win with them.

Do you have a better coach in mind? Like I've said before, Mike Babcock is the consensus Best Coach In Hockey, he's probably out of Detroit at the end of the year because he can see the writing on the wall, and he's a guy who routinely plays Dan Cleary on his first line. If we got him next year, he'd probably stick Toews and Kane on a line with some dope like Ryan Carter for "veteran toughness."
