Remember, there is nothing the US could have done to help control this.

Well one, why should the US be having to do anything? Besides sending docs or advising how to limit West Africans pain? Secondly, once they show they do not have a handle isolate and remove the threat.

We would do something because of the potential disaster it could cause. Sending docs, meds, real quarantine facilities....we throw money at causes all over the world just to by good will...

Dear Egypt,

here is a check for your annual aid in the amount of $1.3 Bill, we subtracted $200 mill this year to help battle the Ebola crisis as we see as a threat to the world. We assume you will undertand getting $200 Mill less in free money this year and in our next press conference we will state that you gave $200 mill towards this fight.

Hold on, let me check the exact foreign aid $$$ sent to Egypt before a few here call me out on a bad source.

I wasn't talking about money aid, doctors or other things. He sent 3,500 fucking Army personnel. Dumb ass doesn't think the CDC types couldn't do better like sending 3,500 Dustin Hoffman characters?.

Yeah, government-funded organizations like the CDC would never show incompetency like this.

Not sending the money, USING the money to pay for the necessary medical requirements and facilities. Then give the credit to Egypt (as an example) for allowing/donating their share of kickback money this year. And I started a thread about it back in July after seeing a report on how bad it was and seeing how bad it could get. Mr. Presidents response was 2 months later. I can only hope and assume he had this information many months ago. No guarantee any of it does anything to slow down/stop/prevent it, but I am OK with trying.

Disappointed, but expected.

Saw an article yesterday about the # 3500. Author stated that Obama seems to have this as a level of response to Africa on a number of issues. As if they did a study that the public feels good about 3500 soldiers/people being sent to deal with anything. Showed 4 examples of the president sending 3500 troops to Africa for other issues.

I just google up 3500 Africa and saw 2 older articles from 2013 about sending 3500 troops. Does seem like something it there about the number makes people feel better and isnt ever really addressing the issue.

Some half-assed, for-profit hospital dropped the ball and what's to show for it? The fella died (was almost certain to anyway) and two nurses who had direct physical contact with the patient himself are sick at present.

Not folks that were on the plane with him, not folks that used the water fountain after him, not folks that may have been around his sister's cousin's uncle's stepmother who sneezed, but just two unfortunate, caring broads just doing their job the best they could with what they had available (which, if anything, is a scathing indictment against for-profit, commodotized healthcare, but that's an entirely different conversation).

What do they get for their good deed? Ebola. Life's swell and all, but that almost certainly doesn't mean diddly shit to you, me, or the man in the moon as far as I can tell with respect to our likelihood to contract Ebola.

Do we know every single thing that's going on or every single scenario with requisite percentages listed by them as happening? No; we're not necessarily supposed to ... in many cases it'd be giving good scotch to drunken chimps for all the good it would do.

If there was something to worry about, they'd at the very least say "look, maybe don't travel around a great deal" or something like that. Our governmental overlords don't gain much from mass panic (unwarranted or warranted) and the deaths of swaths of taxpayers by keeping secrets ... or Keeping Score for that matter.

Calm down

I wasnt saying you should have better sources. Im saying the only source is questionable

Its probably nothing to worry about but no one truly knows yet because this hasn't happened before.

Christ almighty; I tried to mix in some fun with the response and I get the "calm down" routine. Whatever.

I was on the train and didnt read your whole post.

I meant calm down in a less douchey manner than it probably came off

She wasn't told not to board the aircraft, the official said.

Stop worrying.

I am on the school board and we had a meeting last night. The principal stated that all staff were being shown a video and discussing the identification/handling of blood bourn pathogens if they arise at the school. He said not to worry as it was completely incidental to the Ebola outbreak.

He was asked a question about any drug problems at the school and said there were none, not knowing that I am very close friends with a high school principal who had called him a few days prior to inform him that police had busted a dealer at her school who had names and numbers of his students in his client list.

[b]Head of CDC:/b] If you have ebola symptoms, don't take public transportation. But if you don't have ebola symptoms, you are safe to ride public transportation because it can't be transmitted that way.

I had to drop something off to my youngest daughter one day and when I walked to her class I saw her French teacher yelling at this boy. He was their sub for the day and when he saw me his face got pale. He was trying to explain himself but I really didn't need him to. She has the same classmates every year and I knew that boy was terrible. Every since then all my kids get straight A's in French. My oldest daughter had only gotten B's up until that point. He shakes my hand just about every day and always ask if I need anything. I no intention of reporting him but he freaked out.

Teachers have to be nice to everybody now. No possibility of hurt feelings for one kid even if it is at the expense of the rest of the class. They have no power to discipline. I'm almost thinking of transferring my daughter. Her class is full of kids that are something else.
