Just watched one song on You Tube and not sure I have heard a more disturbing/annoying/painful voice ever. That is torcherous!

Same thing, OUCH!

I dig the female Rocker thing, Phair, veruca, Bangle me up, Jett, Chrissy H, but that voice has some weird inbred autotune thing going on.

They can definitely be rough around the edges. But no auto tune for sure

You want me to get you a ticket, BF?

Gay bar right down the street from The Riv. Notable pregame location of Chicago White Sox gay night

Bigfan hyped this place for a couple weeks before the White Sox gay night.

I have been there once before a show at The Aragon. You wouldn't even realize it's a gay bar. I'd say the crowd there was 50/50, straight vs gay when I was there. I'm sure the crowd is more diverse when there is a show at either of the venues. On a normal night when nothing is going on, they probably gay it up a bit. It's nice that a few places have opened up along Broadway that you can actually grab a bite to eat and drink before a show at Aragon or The Riv.

I've probably been there. I've been to a few places near there, no idea what they were called.

Nobody hits on me at either type of place.

 I agree 100%. Never got the whole S-K thing.

They opened for Pearl Jam when I saw them once, and one of them came out to sing a CCR cover with them during an encore. It was awful.

Yep. I've never understood the Sleater-Kinney vibe.
I'll take Live Through This or Veruca Salt's 2nd record, the one Bob rock did.

They film that shit months in advance, probably over the summer.

They absolutely butchered Cornell's part on Hunger Strike too, Frank.

"Dig Me Out" doesn't get enough talk in the eternal discussion that is Best Leadoff Tracks. I wouldn't call myself an avid Sleater-Kinney fan by any means, but I enjoy them. And I think it's neat that Carrie Brownstein and Annie Clark are dating.

I believe they are both technically "undeclared".

Last time I saw Sleater-Kinney they opened for Flaming Lips/WILCO NYE 2005-ish at MSG. IIRC, it was pre-billed as their last live show. Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney performed "War Pigs" with the Flaming Lips, but needed a cheat sheet for the lyrics...which one should have their rock star/rock musc fan card pulled for needing to lamely stand on stage and focus on the scribbled lyrics to a song that should be pavlovian simple once the music kicks-in.

Two months earlier @ ATP Long Beach on/around the dry-docked Queen Mary, Peaches had Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips cracking up with her enthusiastic, no-lyrics-sheet necessary killing of War Pigs:

Looks like S-K toured some after that, likely a farewell tour of sorts, not unlike what Murder City Devils did and continue to do. Strangely saw down-state mid-90's sorta shoegaze poppers HUM play a "billed as" final gig on NYE with the Flaming Lips a few years prior at the Metro. Hum have performed since then, I'm fairly certain.

Holy shit. The Milwaukee show was awesome. The same bulllet train they used to be.

JORR, are you going to the Riv on Tuesday? I can't wait. They played at least 2-3 songs from every album, but Corin sang 90% of the songs. Either it was "her night" or Carries voice is not good.

And they are staying at our hotel. I totally did the awkward teenager thing earlier with Carrie and Janet.

I stayed in the same hotel in Madison as L7 and once. My wife coaxed me out of the hotel bar with the promise of actual, verifiable fornication.

It's not really as good of a story 24 hrs later. :drunken: Just bumped into them (separately) in the lobby. Was caught off guard both times so instead of actually talking to them, etc....I just awkwardly said "hi" after I was already past them. Like a moron. My wife made fun of my reaction for at least 3 hours.
