It's a fun little tune. "Everlong" is good. I can't think of any other Foo Fighters songs I like. I either dislike the rest or tolerate them between better songs. Just such an unremarkable band coasting on Dave Grohl's old job and this tired bullshit about "saving rock and roll."

It was an interesting and fairly well done episode on the Chicago music scene primarily focusing on
its blues and punk histories. JORR, I'd agree with DB that you may really like the punk angle of
the program. Not sure if it was interesting because of the Chicago focus or what but it was a pretty
interesting hour of TV.

Grohl is very good at banter. Scott Lucas was better back when he would get shitfaced during Local H performances, but that doesn't really happen anymore.

I'm a noob here and completely on the outside, but I enjoy reading a lot of the points of view on here and I'm really not interested in some goofy e-battle over what someone chooses to think about music that resonates with me...

Actually, I'm pretty sure he's correct. I'm surprised you like these guys so much, spanky. I see them as frat boy rock with a hipster sheen applied by Grohl. I can actually see Grohl thinking, "Hey, if I bring the guy from the Germs along it will give us even more cool cred!" And hey, I don't begrudge Pat Smear getting paid at all, but I really doubt this music and this band is what he was dreaming about playing when he was smoking bowls with Darby Crash. The Foo Fighters are just Thrid Eye Blind with Dave Grohl instead of pop hooks.

I understand, I was just fucking with you. I mean, I’m a huge Rush fan and I like what I like. I don’t really care about genre, ethos, back story, etc. All that matters is that I have an emotional connection with the music.

I’m not a huge Foo fan, but I really like many of their songs and would love to see them in concert. That said, I do find JORR’s Grohl rants pretty damn entertaining.

I don't think anybody said they were "bad." Overrated and overloved, but I don't recall seeing anybody in this thread say that the Foo Fighters are bad.

You called them "probably the greatest American band, ever," which isn't even remotely close to being true. You can like what you like, but when you declare that a band is 'the greatest ever' be prepared to take some flack for that.

It's OK to be a snob about the music you like as long as you don't speak in absolutes. If I wasn't clear, it's my opinion that The Foos are the best American rock band ever. I'm not stating it as fact or something that's legitimately quantifiable...
