As am I.

A lot of different scenarios brought up since I got busy. In light of your post here though and leaving aside the specific Brown case have you ever thought to start a "ruckus" and go for a gun. Again just in your personal experience. I think most would not.

Serious question RR.

Are you really surprised that a kid that grew up in Schaumburg and thinks that his hometown is heaven on earth, would really not have any idea that blacks are often treated differently then whites by cops?

No, I think in one way or another every cop abuses their power. Anyone in customer service can tell you countless stories of "I'm a cop" BS.

Sadly, no.

I will admit to being somewhat surprised at the arrogance he's putting on display here though. I guess I've never really read most of his posts.

In a twist of irony, I got pulled over by a black cop the other day for having a license plate that was 2 days expired (waiting on the new sticker to come in the mail). He graciously let me go after my impressive display of verbal ego fellatio.

Truthfully if I feared for my life or the life of one of my kids I would do just about anything. As a kid I've had them try to frame me and make me thank them for not doing it. I've had them pull guns on me and my aunt. I've had them search my boxers and make me sit on the ground with my ass out and many other things. They didn't arrest me or apologize. I've seen them choke and beat the shit out of others as a kid. Sometimes they had a legitimate reason but other times they were just harassing everyone.

Other than the last 2 times I was stopped I used to be scared to death whenever I got pulled over by the police. There aren't many things that scare me but that was near the top of the list. I said yes sir so many times to one cop as a teen that he told me to stop saying it and I immediately said it again. I had a fear of my life being destroyed because I got framed by the police. As a young black male I didn't expect any court or jury to take my word over the word of an officer. Now I don't have that same fear but they don't bother me any more.

I hope FF knows I'm joking. He may have terrible taste in teams and players but I'm fairly confident he CAN read.

As I assumed my cop hassles are vastly different than yours so my original statement should not have assumed "most" would not grab for a cop's gun.

You have never had your car searched illegally?

Have you?

I mean, other than the flashlight inspection as they walk up to the car. I havent had an issue.

Several times when I was younger. My buddy and I got arrested for simple possession about twenty years ago. He told the cop that he was not consenting to a search. The cop just called a few more cops, asked us to step out of the vehicle, and they went through the car. In their report, they said my buddy consented to the search. It's their word vs. yours, and they will lie their ass off, if they have to.

The cops are not your friends. They abuse their power daily, and infringe upon the rights of citizens. I'm glad I'm not as naive as IMU. Getting arrested at 18 really opened up my eyes. And this is coming from a white kid from Wheaton. I can't imagine what the brothers have had to deal with.

as a frequent view of Cops, I love when the cop asks someone they just pulled over for a burnt out license plate light : "is it ok if i search your car ? "

i think as with DUI's and other stops, in the heat of the moment you may not know exactly what to do/say and 99% of the time the people say "sure, go ahead" and i cringe

Never let them in your house, never let them search anything and have a lawyer present for dealings.

And if they do find something, do not say another word, until your lawyer is present.

Yep. They aren't there to hear your side of the story or whatever, they are there to get revenue or put you in jail.

But their behavior is also due to a citizenry that doesn't seem to care about its collective rights. That mentality breeds this stuff.

It's really solid. That shuffle on Walk Between Raindrops is so tight.
