Listen here, pal, "Round Here" is no fuckin' joke. That Fireball whiskey whispers temptation in my ear!

You're a drummer, right? Meg White seems to be like Ringo in drumming world - either love or hate, no middle ground.

Meg White is the White Stripes. It's a band based around her and her limitations as a musician. And it's fucking awesome.

I think they're decent musicians. Just not a fan. She's solid and they're like... quirky. It's just not my thing. Kinda like Judd Appitow movies. A lotta hype, but I'll pass. Absolutely no offense to their fans.

You didn't ask me, but I'm also a drummer, and I don't love or hate Ringo or Meg.
Neither are technically very good, but they both fit for the bands they were in.
I'll tell you who DOES suck, though, and that's Patrick "McLovin" Carney of Black Keys.
Not only does he suck at his instrument, he's also a world class Asshole.
Fuck him.

That's another one of those bands I'm supposed to like because they're "amazing". Not a fan. They're fine, but another one that I don't connect with...

Not sure I would say she is the WS, but the dynamic is genius and, yes, fucking awesome.

Yeah, If I want a 2 man band, I'll take Lightning Bolt, Local H, or White Stripes over Black Keys 8 days a week.

I don't- and I'm guessing Makalu doesn't- consider them "bands" for purposes of this conversation.

You never know - is he joking, is he serious?

1. Meg White is a terrible drummer - and JORR is right - that's part of what makes the White Stripes amazing.

2. Did somebody just say that ELVIS is one of the biggest rock stars ever?

3. Black Keys used to be good.....back before they believed they were good.

"Elvis" :lol:

Yup.

I saw The White Stripes twice, and there were times during their show where Jack White has to go over to Meg and pound out the beat with his foot to whatever song they are playing.

I am not a bigfan, but you can't deny that he pretty much revolutionized the American music scene. Way more so than the Foo Fighters, and probably even more so than Nirvana.

The Troggs, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sleater-Kinney, Slayer, New York Dolls, and at least two bands called The Heartbreakers.

Now that I think about it, I believe the Troggs are British. Still better than the Foo Fighters.

Let's not forget the Cars, Frank Zappa and the Mothers, Talking Heads, the Afghan Whigs, R.E.M., the Magnetic Fields. And I don't even like R.E.M. that much.

Boy, this has been an exercise in "wait, nope, British"

Edit. No I guess he's not.
Very english sounding name though.

The Cars are most definitely better, leaps and bounds. One of my favorite bands, great out put over many albums with Door to Door being the only letdown. Move Like This was even pretty good.

The Talking Heads are in the team photo, probably near the front. Even after the decline (as subtle as it was) began after Speaking in Tongues they were still solid.

The Foo Fighters are at the back of bus when it comes to this conversation, they are just generic to me and I even enjoy plenty of their music.

If metal is in there you have to put in the Mustiane/Elefson/Menza/Freidman (sorry for the spelling, DOUCHEBAG) incarnation of Megadeth.

Hall and Oates are better too.

G.E. Smith is a better guitarist than Grohl.
