A fan base that demands contention for their attention span. A core of Abreu, Sale, Quintana, Rodon Gillaspie, Eaton and the Adulterer.

The Tigers are aging, Indians cheap, Royals will lose Shields, and Twins 3 years away.

Time is ripe but Ventura is the answer?!? Talk about blatantly telling your customers fuck you.

He'd honestly be a perfect candidate. Sox weakness was bullpen management. Maddon regularly managed the Rays bullpen with a rotating cast. Openness towards defensive positioning could maximize the effectiveness of their horrible defenders.

Of course he's familir with the AL in the past 10 years. Too perfect.

They didn't hire Rick Hahn to sign Joe Maddon. They hired him to re-sign Robin Ventura

He probably is. Sox fans are just waiting until we actually fire our bad manager before we speculate on who the next guy will be.

He probably isn't. That would indicate a degree of competence.

The Sox are in for a big offseason.

Every day Ventura is employed I have less confidence Hahn has any clue what he is doing.

He has to be "promoted" this offseason or the Sox aren't interested in competing.

Perfect opportunity to steal the headlines in Chicago. Total snake in the grass move. I can't think of a better way to improve the team while giving a middle finger to Tommy Dickhead.

Who cares? A Cub fan would bring something stupid like that up. I just want them to get a manager who has an IQ higher than a roast beef sandwich. You guys can keep the headline and attendance championships. It's worked well for you guys the past 6 years.

Exactly.

Anyways, we don't need Maddon, we have a guy with a ring on speed dial.

Of course, you need publicity and buzz when you average 15K spins at the gate. Shows the fan base you care about competing and gets the band wagoners like Scorehead who haven't paid attention in 10 years to take notice.

We're running a championship organization, not a PR machine.

It's fine if you prefer style over substance. Some of us don't.

I don't. They have enough money to win, especially going into this offseason. Hahn needs to put a winner on the field or get the fuck out of town after next season.

Reinsdorf has final say.

I believe you're right, but I don't think that changes my feelings. Every day Hahn can't convince JR that Ventura needs to be fired I have less confidence he has any clue what he is doing.

Seven years from now, the Sox would regret having incredible success with Maddon.

I need to be reminded what's so bad about Robin Ventura.

That's a little rash. A GM needs 5 years IMO. Its kind of like a college football coach. Needs to clean out and its not totally his team til year 2 or 3

There is nothing good about him. I can't see one positive impact he has on the team. He still makes dumb in game decisions. He just isn't a big league manager and doesn't seem to be doing anything to try and learn on the job like you would want.

However, to give a final answer to this question, Maddon isn't a candidate because Ozzie is a better choice for the White Sox anyways.

It's impossible to manage a bullpen full of scrubs who can't throw strikes. He tried about every way to get those guys to succeed and none of it worked.

My big complaint about him was how players convinced Robin to put them in the lineup even when they were hobbled, but he got over that after the Abreu injury.

I'd like to see him manage a team that has a bit more going for it on the roster.

He had plenty of time to prove himself. The undeniable fact is that he isn't any better than he was on day one, and when you have no managerial experience prior to that it is a problem.

"Promoting" Robin and hiring Ozzie seems like the biggest no brainer in the history of Earth. Otherwise, no reason to even watch the White Sox next year.

Of course Ozzie is better than Robin, Ozzie is a fucking genius. He's a top 5 manager in the game who got caught up in politics at his first job then went to baseball hell for his second. I would take him over Robin in an instant.

But I don't see that happening right now, so in the meantime I'd like to see what Robin's got with a better roster. That 2012 team was pretty bad and they were *this* close at the end. Even this year's team stuck around for a while. Give the guy a chance with a team that has some actual talent (which the Sox will have next year).
