Wow. Greatest show in the history of TV. The finale was great. I figured Walt would save Jesse & that Jesse would kill Todd...both were rather obvious. The misdirection in this show was fantastic. I gotta believe that most BB fans were satisfied...although I was hoping Walt would survive. Walt dying from his own bullets is a fitting ending to this great show. As usual, Gilligan is a master of deception & misdirection.
Greatest show in the history of TV. Period. Ever.

In my opinion

The entire episode was good, the last 20 minutes were great, and the final shot and closing song were perfect



Oddly enough it was reminicient of the Cheers finale where Sam realized his true love was the bar. Walt's love was The Blue (being Heisenberg)

It was amazing. Just, superb. It's the best TV drama ever. I feel comfortable saying that. Going to miss this show like crazy.

I will have to rewatch it again but overall I was satisfied by the ending. I wasn't sure they would be
able to pull off that much carnage in 75 minutes but it was all done very well and thought it was a
great series.

Walt splayed out with a pierced side evoking images of Jesus was a bit much.

Badger and Skinny Pete showing up again was nice.

Gilligan explaining why Walt took off the watch showed me how much of a regular dude he is. Hopefully his new show on CBS doesn't suck.

Why did he take off the watch?

Vince answered it on Talking Bad. Two reasons. The first being continuity. They realized that in the Denny's scene Walt wasn't wearing a watch so they needed a way for him to lose it. Second, a bit of 'artsy fartsy' stuff as he called it taking off the watch that Jesse gave to him as a sort of symbolism.

I think that Walt originally planned on killing Jesse as well, but had a change of heart once he saw what kind of condition he was in.

So Walt got exactly what he set out to do in the beginning. Outside of a few costly deaths (Hank mostly) he came out ahead

He lived longer than he thought. He left his family with enough money. (Wasnt his original estimate like 800K? ) and he lived out his Heisenberg Boss Dreams

That's why I like him. He didn't try to hide behind the artsy-fartsy, he was straightforward in that it was for continuity.

You will not find a biger Walt supporter than me. I just didnt think it was jaw droppingly awesome.

I think the episode where Hank was killed was just as good.

I would have liked the last three episodes edited down to a 2 hour movie type finale

But that was a great episode too. Has there ever been a great episode or have they all just been good?

I really wanted to see Walt get his horrible fate but they actually did get me back to at least getting back in touch with the Walt that started all this. That's what I'm glad they did. They got back some of the spirit of the original part of the series before it went completely dark. I thought they nailed it.

I misspoke. The 3rd to last episode was Awesome. I guess my only issue is the finale wasnt noticeably better than the normal Breaking Bad awesome.

Walter White, bad-evil guy or a good guy who does bad-evil things for overall admirable reasons?

Simmons-Sepinwall and the Grantland crew consider Walter White pure evil. I don't see that at all. He tries to trade the forture he worked
and sweated and committed all these crimes for to save Hank. And he sets up his loved ones to be taken care of in the end, which is all he wanted to do.

Maybe the view from LA-Sunset Blvd is so sunny and happy that any sort of moral compromise to achieve otherwise worthy ends disqualifies one from the good guy tag.

I think the way this works is when your break-through role is as an iconic or even just memorable character on a series, your next several roles work as reverse palate cleansers intended to fail and make everyone forgot about you until you come back as Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction.

So, one question I have thinking about this for the better part of the day. What really happened with Walt and Gretchen? I guess I've always assumed a love triangle between those two and Elliott, but even if that is the case, what made Walt go into high school chemistry.

If he possessed the skills to launch this billion dollar company, but sold his shares early on, why not join up with another company? Why not working on another idea? He said like in season 2 that he sold his shares for personal reasons that he rather not get into.


So are we just supposed to assume he took the first job he could fine with a steady paycheck and then the years just started passing by?

I think the flashback to when they were buying the house shows he was cocky and thought he could just build a better company himself, but it just never happened. (Walt Jr. Medical bills probably made him stay teaching)

That picture up there says Hector was supposed to be the Bad Guy in three. I wonder how that was gonna work. Walt would just bypass Gus and deal with the cartel?

Probably.

He would've had to work with Don Eladio and then killed him.

It worked much better with Gus.

Keep watching the final scene over and over. Amazing way to end it. Baby Blue is now up there with Don't Stop Believin' in terms of a song that will immediately take me back to that moment I watched the finale.

Hey did you guys know Walt's cancer doctor is Milosh from Seinfeld?

According to The Insider podcast, one of the directors asked Gilligan what the story was and that director said it was explained to him that Walt and Gretchen were together but I think Gretchen was from a rich family and when Walt went to her side of the family, he felt extremely uncomfortable to the point that he was too proud to be around them and broke up with her - something along those lines.

But, since it never was addressed, maybe they thought that angle didn't work/make sense.
