So like apparently everyone on the Blues has fuckin' ebola or something and they're all just sitting around barfing and shitting themselves. Maybe it's something in the big brown artery of shit that separates the city from our fair state. Maybe it's their rubber-cheese pizza. Maybe they just realized they're the St. Louis Blues and this is the body's natural reaction.

The Blues are struggling to start the year despite high expectations. I was someone who picked the Blues to win the whole division, figuring they'd play hard every game while the Blackhawks would get to Valentine's Day and decide to pack it in for the year. They still might, because this is more due to injuries and whatever this infection thing is, but part of me has also wondered whether Ken Hitchcock, like his cohort Dave Tippett has in Phoenix, will again enter the fourth act of a three-act play, where guys finally get tired of his shit and stop playing hard. The Blues themselves have hedged against this likelihood by hiring former Stars/Habs coach Bob Gainey to be a "consultant" or "advisor" or whatever it's called when the organization hires an unemployed head coach with a solid c.v. to loom over you and wait for you to fail, like what Joel Quenneville was made to do for Denis Savard.

Paul Stastny was the big acquisition for the Blues, but he's hurt, so they've called up Jaskin from Rosemont. Jaskin was a pain against the Hawks, if I remember correctly. They lost Vladimir Sobotka, who I know was a pain in the ass against the Hawks, to the KHL. They flipped Wandering Ethnic Slur to Toronto for Carl Gunnarson, who is also hurt. Other than that, it's more or less the same team we saw in the playoffs, right down to the dickfaced Steve Ott, Ryan Reaves, and Maxim Lapierre rounding things out.

For the Hawks, I'd kind of like to see Morin in and Carcillo out to shake things up a little bit and because a game against the Blues requires a certain idiot-proofing. Did you know the Hawks have zero fights through six games? The Kings already have seven. Let's see how long we can keep it that way. Sam Fels also made a terrific case for putting together a Saad-Toews-Kane scoring line. That'd put Richards with Sharp and Hossa on the second line, one would presume, which might put Richards in a position to succeed more than Bryan Bickell and Ben Smith have. I don't expect it to happen, though. Though it's not as if the Hawks have the copyright on questionable distribution of talent: the Blues went forth with an Ott-Backes-Oshie first line in their loss to Vancouver the other night. Whatever, dudes.

Only nine guys have points for the Blues: Schwartz leads with 4 and 3, Crapped in Church has 1 and 5, but it's 0 and 0 for Jackman, Oshie, Berglund, Ott, Bouwmeester, Lapierre, and Paajarvi. Let's hope it stays that way. Fuck these douchebags. Wakey wakey.

Oh I am awake good and early. Not sure what my day holds, maybe I'll take the family to breakfast. It's one of those rare weekends where we have nothing specific planned.

I guess ND is on hiatus, so the Hawks will be in full focus. The three B's are certainly on the agenda- Bears, baseball, and beer.

I told my wife last night that I am going to buy snowmobiles.

The contrasting intellect of CH and Gay is quite stunning.

THAT WAS FUCKING BULLSHIT. That was as inconclusive as inconclusive gets. We get fucked on video calls numerous times a year.

Looks like the B1G video official from the Penn St/Ohio St game moved to Toronto.

Foley needs to shut the fuck up with this bullshit that the war rooms have different angles than the tv broadcasts. No they don't. They have the same looks that we at home do. There aren't hidden cameras all over the fucking place. Blow my penis.

And then Raanta gives up a terrible goal. Awful period for the Hawks.

Around the NHL in games infinitely more interesting than this one, Frans Nielsen hat-tricked at 59:59.9 to beat the Stars 7-5. Tomorrow's opposition, the Senators, lost to the Devils in overtime. And those dazzling run-and-gun Perds we just couldn't seem to beat are down 3-0 to the Penguins.

Nice of Eddie O to give a shout out to my good friend Mark Beban 5 minutes into the 2nd period. This is the second time he's gotten one, got one a year and a half ago from Foley when he was first diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer (non-smoker) which had spread into his brain and liver. At the time he was given 8 weeks to live. Luckily, he genetically qualified for Tarceva, a wonder drug that not only kept him alive, but put him in remission. Last spring he played actually played hockey for our team and made it to half the games. He would go to chemo in the morning and still make it out to the 10:00 game that night.

Unfortunately the Tarceva stopped working last month and the cancer returned and spread to his spine. He's gone downhill pretty quickly since and the docs are saying he only has weeks left. last night about 100 of his friends and family got together in his backyard and had a bbq and watched a movie we all made comprised of messages of support videos from lots of people including our whole team. It was real rough seeing him and how far he's gone downhill since we saw him last.....he's barely able to speak now.

oh yeah, has 3 kids 5 and under.

Makes me feel worse about St. Louis having better hockey telecasts than we do and about Raanta's ability to play at an NHL level. Some of the rebounds he gives up, he might as well bend over and spread his ass cheeks.

Oh well, the Hawks always seem to phone it in against the Blues. Maybe Captain Silent will give a fuck late in the third.

That looked dirty from Oshie. Probably it for Carcillo for a while. Sucks, he was really trying his ass off out there. He refused a fight tonight, bless his heart!

I hate to see anyone get injured, but at the same time he is what he is and I would prefer to see Morin in there.

Kane is hurt? Saw he only had two shifts this period. I can live without Versteeg and Carcillo on the ice.
