Lovin' the synchronicity of the lyrics to this Ottawa power-pop band's song coming off back-to-back Slackhawks games. How'd this band not take off?

Anyway, the good old unhateable Sennies are in town after an overtime loss at home on a Jaromir Jagr goal. I can't make any sense out of where they are in the grand scheme of things: last year, they surrendered this summer's first-round pick to get Bobby Ryan from Anaheim, only to sputter out, miss the playoffs, and miss out on drafting at #10. This summer, they sent team captain and creepy giggler Jason Spezza to Dallas for a grab bag of crap centered around Alex Chiasson, that dude who had like a red-hot first 20 games of his career and then settled into being whatever. Ryan, Kyle Turris, and the amazing Erik Karlsson are all locked up, but the team feels like it's in a transition to nowhere.

If all goes well for them, they could be a longshot for a wild card, but one bad injury and I can see the whole thing falling apart, as it did last year when they lost Spezza. The bloom is off the rose a little bit when it comes to Paul MacLean being among the NHL's best coaches, if you ask me. He certainly didn't have an answer for that misfortune, and the rest of the roster wasn't even that bad.

Only fifteen goals in six games for the team, with no one scoring more than two, but Park Ridge's Mancunian-chav-looking Craig Anderson and Robin Lehner have both been stingy in goal.

Hard to dislike Ottawa, but the Hawks are struggling (take away the rec session against Buffalo and they're only averaging a pathetic 2.161 goals per game) and we need a blowout here.

Wow, that Starling song is fantastic.
Never heard it before.
Music thoughts> Blackhawks thoughts.
That's all I got.

The girl I was in love with in high school sent it to me and it's been kicking around the junk drawer of my hard drive (and the junk drawer of my heart) for about ten or eleven years. I've had trouble finding more of their stuff.

Meant to mean I don't have many Blackhawk thoughts, mostly music thoughts.
In case my last post sounded like I was being a dick.

Hah, shirtless it did sound that way for a second, but I figured You meant CH is more gifted in the music side of things. In any case, I think CH just revealed his age.....

However, I am more impressed by the tenderness of his thoughts regarding the girl who got away but left a lasting impression on his heart. Have a good one all.

We have a game tonight, so I'll only be looking via my iPhone.

What did Carbomb hurt now? My mom when ever we talk about the team this year is always complaining about why they signed his useless ass,her words . I really think the Hawks believe the puck will just go in magically on power plays that is why they do not shot the damn thing at the net.

Huh? The Hawks have been shooting a lot, or at least they had been before they took the last two games off. Even then, they tried hard in the third.

Sloppy game so far as to be expected with both teams on the second half of a road-home back-to-back. Too many penalties, not enough scoring chances.

Regardless of the cause, Richards better be a healthy scratch for the next game at least

Richards is lazy, sloppy, and stupid. We may have been better off with Handzus. At least he killed penalties. Richards kills power plays.

Why must we still be subjected to Fallout Boy songs?

Because you touch yourself.

I can only assume you are doing the same thing right now.

I'll take the win, but the lack of goals is getting concerning. They're not coming against Anaheim next game. Other teams are scoring a lot.

It's not concerning yet, CH. They're starting the year off in an offensive slump but already playing better defensive hockey than they were all of last year. This team is going to be dangerous.

I feel like they are playing harder than last year. The goals will hopefully come in time. They still get too passy on the pp.

I would be more concerned if the shots weren't there, but shit, they had 45 tonight, but another good opposing goaltender performance.

I'm with Gay; potential to be dangerous is high.

Hossa seems off. I don't know if it's age or he's hurt or what.

Both. He's old. He's been ouchy. He doesn't have the hold em off with one shoulder and dig in with the other that made him so dangerous for all those years.

I confuse him with Richards at times. That's bad, then I feel terrible.

That's quite an insult to Hossa. He definitely looks like he's lost some speed and strength but he's still playing decent hockey. Richards, however, has been an abomination to the point where I can't see even see how this is an upgrade to Handzus. That's scarey bad.
