Is that true?

When did he make next to nothing? He was pretty much always top ten.

I meant compared to his current contract.

Did you like his play better when he made less?

The first part of your statement should be a no brainer.

The 2nd part of your statement...it takes the Bears full games to get 21 points, and sometimes (Buffalo, Green Bay, Miami...you could even argue he didn't do this against the Jets because 7 points were from Mundy's INT return) they can't even do that. At least part of that lack of production is the responsibility of Jay Cutler.

How do you score points then? You and I know what plays are going to be called and clearly the opposing defenses do too. That means Cutler has to take some risks. Either force the ball or hold it longer so a receiver can get open.

This is a thread about Jay Cutler. But I guess we're supposed to come in here and comment about the defense?

John Shoop was even crying for them to try something new. That's how bad it has gotten.

YES!!! I'm constantly yelling at my tv. Every team now has someone shadowing Forte. I'm not sure how he gets open. Maybe he can teach Marshall a thing or 2.

How could the answer to that question ever be "No"?

If your point is that I also criticized Cutler prior to this latest deal then of course, but it's even worse now. If this is the expected level of play the Bears are locked into for the next 3 years they are absolutely screwed.

Why do people expect Jay to suddenly become an elite QB? He has been in the league for 9 years. He is what we thought he was...mediocre. I fell into the QB whisperer trap with Trestman too. Even if the Bears do fire Trestman, there is no way that the new coach would want to be stuck with Cutler as his QB, & I doubt that the Bears would be able to find another team interested in taking on Jays contract & personality. The Bears could be in deep shit until 2017.

You are the one acting like everyone is saying Jay Cutler is the only problem. You kind of kill your own argument if you think it is assumed that everyone hates Emery/Trestman.

Are people actually praising Emery and Trestman? I haven't heard/seen that
I heard Silvy & Waddle praising Emery last week. They called him a "home run hitter" with "many more hits than strikeouts".

You can't be a quarterback whisperer to a quarterback who won't listen. Cutler is a turd. Period.

The sad part is that Cutler never really has needed to change and the contract he was given was proof of that. Every place he has been has handed him everything he wanted on a silver platter. Even Denver coddled the hell out of him until he basically refused to ever return because they dared to think another quarterback may be worth considering.

The worst part is that he'll make even more money if the Bears cut him after three years or trade him after two years. Business wise he has had a perfect career.

There were people worried he wouldn't want to come back after the initial O-line play! It's like we were negotiating with Peyton Manning!

I should know. I defended him much longer than I should have.

They did not saying exactly that, so you probably shouldn't have used quotes. I heard that segment as well.

W&S said Emery swings for the fences, and that sometimes you are going to strikeout- Shea, linebackers. Sometimes you hit a HR- Jeffrey, and possibly Fuller. They called Kyle Long a solid double so far. I don't disagree with any of that.

Cutler contract should count as a golden sombrero.

So Emery is 2-25 with a home run, a double, an almost-HR robbed by the defense(Fuller being hurt) and 22 strikeouts. Solid job so far.

How many players have thrown 35+ touchdowns in the last 3 years? I'll take that type of production every year.

I think he meant 3 years combined. So the answer is Cutler and like 32 other guys.

He is doing a poor job of it then because Cutler is not on pace to throw for 35+ TDs this season either.

That should be Jay's motto.

Jay Cutler: he's never even been on pace to have a great season.

Every single media member, former player, and "expert" is down on Cutler, including people who used to defend him.

I guess they all just hate him, too. Big conspiracy.

It's not picking nits. Nobody gives a shit about rushing touchdowns unless you are a Cam/Vick type of QB. Don't be Nas junior with trying to count them RPB. It's a bad, desperate look.
