When I wanted out of jury duty, I told the defense attorney I was a "big fan of the district attorney." I was immediately dismissed.

Every person in my group who was interviewed who knew a cop, had a friend who was a lawyer, knew someone with addiction problems or who expressed strong opinions about drugs & crime were dismissed. One guy even said that his Brother in Law was a DEA agent & that they would discuss drugs & crime all the time. He obviously had a plan & strategy as I did.
It was almost comical when I said that my favorite show was Breaking Bad...you should have seen the look on the Attorneys faces.

Nothing more hilarious than blatantly lying to court officials and then bragging about it on a messageboard.

I made sure that I did NOT tell a lie. I was truthful in everything that I said. My plan & strategy included being truthful.

In theory meaning they are never going to enforce it? So if you don't show up nothing happens.

Here's the video, and as you can see, not even close to the awesomeness in real time. Whoever slowed it down and reversed it is an Internet Hero

I've been called in for jury selection twice. The first time I explained my utter contempt for chiropractors, heat therapy and soft tissue injuries. The plaintiff's attorney damn near tripped in his haste to get out of his seat to object. Gone in 10 minutes.

The second time the dumb assed insurance(defense) attorney asked me about my lack of faith in the medical industry and my thoughts on medical malpractice. The sheer look of glee on the plaintiff's attorney's face should've told the defense table to clear me the hell out of there.

Those dumbasses didn't and I helped make sure that the plaintiff was given a verdict and damages award(of nearly 450K) that hilariously matched his claim. to. the. penny. In 20-30 minutes of "deliberation" no less. Six(!) days of testimony about a misdiagnosed bone in a thumb will make any jury angry. That the entire defense table was made of up of completely unlikeable people (& a liar) didn't help things either.

Probably as a last chance to save himself, it was weird he was trying to sell a guy a cd player, so drove him to show him how it works, but the guy was drunk at the time, so it was either drive on a suspended license or let a drunk guy drive.

just say you are working down state. they will reschedule you for a few months from that time, and then just do it again in a few months. keep doing it until they give up. they wont take you away from work if you say you cant leave work.

What county? My experiences with Cook have been painless but I have been lucky on courthouse assignments; either skokie or the Daley center -- both easy to get to. Others I know (including my wife) have gotten summons' for 26th and California. They pull the kid card and opt out.

Then, once I'm there my cases either have settled quickly or, in civil matters, the plaintiffs lawyers don't want me -- I guess because I am in management. So I think every time I have been home by 3.

I'm in Rolling Meadows luckily. A short drive from my house. We're still in the jury room. Boring ass morning thus far.

Maybe you'll get lucky and draw a property dispute over a Native American burial ground.
