A good coach would have this team at 6-2 right now. 5-3 at worst.

Can't argue with that, they should be 5-3, not 3-5. Should have beaten Carolina and Buffalo. The others no.

Didn't Ditka once say something like 3-5 is only two wins away from being 5-3, and that's pretty good or something like that with other records? I think it was for a commercial bit.

C'mon now.

The man loves the Cubs. That's a fact. I'm not sure why the pretense about being a Sox fan. But I was never sure why North pretended to be a Sox fan either.

How much he fawned over prior. Clearly a Cubs fan.

Other than the owner, what is it about the Sox or when did he like the Sox? He wasn't on board in 2005 as he poked fun at the abilities of Podsednik, Rowand, and Uribe. So if not then, when?

Some non-southsiders are true fans. Others claim allegiance as a way to imply some street cred (North) or their youthful desire to project a sense of anti-establishment (DB).

I go back and forth. I think his frustration with the three names mentioned above was tied into the fact that he as a loyal yet typical Sox fan expected the worst. Saw the glass half empty. However, I do also think he's a Cubs fan, closeted. Which is why he makes such a big deal of callers saying they pull for one team when they call into discuss the other. Because he cognitively is both.

When he first started he talked a lot about Sox players especially Ivan Calderon. He was likely a big fan in the past but has faded or soured some for some reason. He has now "evolved" into a Cubs fan clearly.

That Calderon stuff is used to joke about how bad the Sox are. It isn't sincere.

I know. It's used to say, "The Cubs had Ernie, Billy, Maddux, etc., the Sox had Ivan Calderon.

He sounds like a genuine Sox fan when he tells stories of, like, calling Jim Fregosi to get the day's lineup, or visiting Harry and Jimmy, or getting World Series updates during Yom Kippur services. I agree that he became a Sox fan just to be different and countercultural. He's said as much.

After their hot start and by mid-May there was no need to maintain frustration if one had any sense of optimism. The epitome of a douchey fan is to express doubt about one's team as they progress towards a championship. Is in unfair to project that he would rather his team lose than to be wrong in his assessment of their talent and/or championship abilities?

He signed a contract. Dock his pay?!?!??!

Dan exposed once again. Not only does he have a guaranteed contract, he has a guaranteed contract to be a field manager. They cannot demote him to say, clubhouse attendant in the hopes that he breaks his end of the contract and they don't have to pay him.

Like I said, if Renteria accepts this he has no dignity unless they did something like double his salary

I was a bit confused myself when Bernstein suggested that the Cubs can take care of Renteria by paying him "most" of his contract. Why wouldn't Renteria get the full guarantee of the contract, which is ALL of it?

two WYC moments that should make air today.

1. Ricky's pay getting "docked"
2. Hub "long time Cub fan"

Make it happen people. I'm too busy in the afternoon.
