All for the hiring of Maddon. "It's business" he said. About 30 minutes ago,he had Chris Archer (TB Pitcher ) on his talk show. Archer mentioned Maddon's clubhouse antics: (Penguin, snakes, witch doctor).

Both Kap & his minion,Haugh had no clue what he was talking about! They admitted it on the air.
Way to do your homework guys. Yet Kap,you think it's a good move by the Cubs when it's clear your just looking at his record and have no clue who the man is.

So basically, Joe Maddon would have been Michael Scott if he hadn't found baseball.

I think Kap is a much better guy than some give him credit for. The guy is totally self made 100% and works his ass of to where he is, takes nothing for granted.

However, i can see how the perception of him is that he is a douche.

Kaplan should be nominated solely for the stupid ass nicknames he uses when bringing callers on the air. A man should never call another man "Toots."

totally brown noser living in the light of other stars. There really is no other explanation for his ascendance as he hasn't really displayed much talent. This board has been around for a decade talking about sports radio. He has had a show that entire time on the station with the ability to reach the widest audience. Yet, before the game, I cannot his name being mentioned more than a handful of times.

He's the Tom Dreesen of Chicago sports radio.

Started his own newspaper, Windy City Roundball review, while coaching at Northern Ill and then guys like Chet started having him on because he was the only one publishing scouting info on the HS bBall talent in Chicago. Started getting national coverage and he became known to the guys at ESPN, they started using his stuff, which then WGN saw him and hired him to start talking sports at night...and Yes, thats all that WGN needs to see.

Today he would be the "Committed Indian" and one of many Bloggers, websites, etc trying to get out fresh content and might achieve the status of Barstool sports

what bugged me is he was a HS basketball "expert" and then all of a sudden he's doing a general sports show. he didn't (doesn't?) have a clue about baseball, football, etc.

plus he wasn't funny or charming or anything. just an asshat as far as I could tell.

Kaplan has grown on me. I understand everyone's hatred, but he displays the fire and passion for Chicago Sports. It's a lot better than guys who don't watch the game or put their music careers ahead of sports.

I believe that. He plays the devil's advocate and Monday morning QB act too often, but again, I enjoy him overall.

Go to Wrigley, especially during the day games, he will talk sports.
Maybe longer than you'd think

I switched to Kap's show but now I am wondering how informed he actually is. That Joe Madcap Maddon stuff should be known to "sportsguys"

He also mentioned something I said on here. There is talk other ML Managers are not happy how he pulled this under the table job snare.

Frank "Toots" Caruso was known to run the "Chinatown Crew/26th Street Crew" for the Outfit.
