does he live in NY and gets heckled daily?
I get cat calls every so often but I wouldn't call it heckling.

you've seen the light! He made a poor decision hiring a puppet and has corrected that mistake.

I do think it is great. I have said though you can back up the best manager in baseball stuff and guarantee of a WS win. I am more perturbed by B&B and to a lesser extent media than Cub fans on this.

Thats a dangerous way to judge a manager

They were outscored 28-3 in a three game series by Toronto.

Your stat is helped by that /\ huge loss

Renteria was fine though

People love to use averages to argue until averages don't help their argument. Then averages are suddenly dangerous.

I dont think Ive ever used that. I dont go about trying to prove manager's worth that often

Use it if you want, Ive just pointed out a flaw in it

I'm just talking generally. I'm not a slave to averages myself. But people often lean on them in arguments as if they're the law.

I don't care what the Cubs do. I'm just saying, Renteria did a fine job and he got fucked. And hiring Maddon probably won't work out the way people think. Way too much is made of managers. This guy isn't gonna be hitting or pitching. Is it really worth it to fuck a good guy for nothing?

I just dont think he's that fucked.

It sucks but he'll likely be managing somewhere else within a year

I don't think he is any better position than before the Cubs hired him. This season of experience will be looked on as the equivalent of some interim coaching by prospective employers. I think his next position is back to a position or bench coach with a bad mustache

I was told he was the hot candidate back then.

Cubs at 50/1 to win the 2015 WS. Better get on that because its like to drop to 3/1 once Maddon is introduced.

This is almost twice the odds they said this afternoon on........one of the stations, forget which one.

Sox were behind the cubs at 30-1

I think Cubs opened at 50-1 and dropped to 30 something to one after taking bets.

I think Theo liked the job Renteria did. I did too. But when an exceptionally qualified candidate, with vast experience (and success) developing young talent is available, you make the upgrade at the position.

Sveum was bad, and I assume they had no visions of Maddon opting out of his contract. Sucks for Renteria, as this might have been his only chance to manage. But organizationally they made the right move.

I think Dusty, Baylor and Lou were seemingly out of it when they arrived - I think Maddon still has his head in the game. Haven't followed the Reds at all; not sure if Dusty came back to life or not.

Dusty isn't the manager of the Reds anymore.

He was there for a few years, didn't they even make the payoffs? Not sure how much, if any, was due to him.

PLAYOFFS, not payoffs. Didn't mean to make the Reds part of FIFA.

funny thing is, you can really only determine that in hindsight but it seems a bit more probable for a 61 year old guy looking for his big payday on his last contract. That point is met with a collective lack of understanding by some on this board.
