Way too soon

GM needs 4-5 years at least. Let the guy draft and bring some players through at least.
A winning record in year 3 isn't some great feat.

Robin SHOULD be fired. At least Sox fans can admit when someone on their team needs to go. Theo has a pass to lose indefinitely. Must be nice to be a GM for a fanbase who doesn't really care about winning.

Theo only has 1 more losing season than Hahn.

Yes, and I think Hahn should be fired if the Sox don't make the playoffs this year. RPB thinks a GM needs 5 years to prove he sucks. Cub and Sox fans just view things differently. Cub fans have more... patience, I guess.

I know a GM needs 5 years because if you replace a GM in a shorter time than that you're gonna have a clusterfuck of an organization with draft picks from one guy with one philosophy not even at the major league level when a new guy is brought in. It just doesnt work that way.

Check the history of GM's tenures.

Its not but like it or not, the team still has Kenny's fingerprints on it. To get a true read on what kind of GM Hahn is you'd have to give him at least the 5 years.

Hahn didnt sight Adam Dunn or John Danks right?

Hahn did acquire a bunch of talented young guys last year right? And drafted Rodon?

Id keep Hahn.

But its not because I or Cub fans are especially patient. Its because 3 years for a GM is just not reasonable.

Pablo Sandoval would a great fit at 3B and then slide into DH once he becomes morbidly obese. Though, Conor Gillaspie did have a fantastic year if you erase his .228/.284/.330 post All-Star break numbers.

Hahn should just stay put. Don't want hurt Conor's feelings.

Danks is the only bad contract left going into year 3, and he's probably ok as one of the starting pitchers.

Though, I guess if they don't spend what they should in the offseason, it is unfair to hold it against Hahn. I'll just rescind my White Sox fandom instead.

I think actually 4 years is sometimes enough to judge

And I mean if a guy is just making terrible moves (1986), you get rid of him.

But that's not the case with Hahn

Still though, it's a winning record. I'm not asking him to make the World Series. I'm asking them to field an even somewhat competitive team in year 3. I probably won't be alive in his 5th year.

Yeah, I guess that's reasonable.

Its just hard to implement a plan that quick. I mean you might miss a great drafter and developer of talent if you get rid of a guy after a couple years.

Sox are like the Bears. A decade of poor drafting/development left the new management team in a hopeless situation.

I get where you are coming from Rick, but in reality this is Hahn's 3rd year. His first year as "GM" the team was pretty much set. Their biggest free agent acquisition was Kosuke Fukudome. The second year (2013) he still had guys like Dunn, Danks, Rios, etc clogging up the books so there wasn't a lot to be done. Hahn's team really started with the Peavy Avasial Garcia trade, and he put some (seemingly) nice pieces in place for this past season. Theo's first year with the Cubs was very similar in that the team, overall, was pretty much set.

I agree though that the Sox should at least contend for the WC in 2015, and be front runners for the division going into 2016

Corey Hart is available to DH and spell Abreu at 1st base. I feel the Alsip crowd would really connect with the guy. Most importantly, he'd be cheap.

WAIT don't the White Sox already have a third baseman under contract.... and under control through 2019 Connor was paid only $512,000 last year..seems like a bargain

and isn't his replacement already in the system through the BIG trade last year with Arizona ..and Matt is under control until 2020...

So is going after The Panda a "DICK" move by the ham handed Rick Hahn/ Kenny Williams / Jerry Reinsdorf triumvirate.

Can you guys stop making this same stupid point? It's been countered like 20 times already.

With 1985 as a guide, Bears fans would still be celebrating the hell out of Super Bowl title they won during that decade, now wouldn't they?

A few of these Cub fans are absolute masochists. They live for their daily beating. It's kind of logical when you think about it.

Perhaps Nyjer Morgan is on the radar as a 4th outfielder and replacement for Eaton during the 60 games he'll miss given his fragile china doll nature.

Fits right into KW's alley as Morgan's first love was another sport (hockey) and then he transitioned to baseball.

Maybe the best move would to get AJ. He's looking for his last contract. Back-up Flowers or take over when he eventually bombs out. The marketing opportunities would be plentiful:

Polish Night
Adult Male Bleached Hair Night
April AJ Night
May AJ Night
June AJ Night
July AJ Night
August AJ Night
September AJ Month

Have the Sox done anything yet?

I've been busy today watching the Cubs get better.

Better than when in your fandom?

The 60's through the early 80's? The Nineties through 2002? 2004 to the present???
