Derrick Rose is more Russell Westbrook than he is Chris Paul. He is not the type of guard that will break you down and drop a no look pass. He is a shoot first guard. He is not your Allen Iverson style selfish gunner but he does tend to look for his own shot. Derrick Rose did not begin his high school career as a point he really began to play it as his career progress. I was at his first varsity game (I know you're happy for me and he played on the wing). Memphis tried to have Strickland get his point guard game right but he only had him for a yr. I think that you can win with him playing that way but what pissed me off more than anything during the Miami series was that i saw him forcing shots against double and sometimes triple teams. I didn't see him trusting his teammates as good point guards are supposed to do. Chris Paul saved Tyson Chandler s career and made David West an All Star. I don't know if Rose has that type of capability. What i mean by that is that i haven't seen him make other guys better which play makers are supposed to do. The team is better with him obviously but i haven't Seen a guy that i can say got better by playing with Rose. The truly great point guards have an ability to elevate the play of others. They also know how to get guys games off. I haven't seen Rose do it. I point to the Miami series because that was the series in which it was obvious that they believed if they contained Rose they win. There were guys open and i consistently saw him throw up wild runners in the lane, as opposed to passing the ball. A true point would have made them pay for the overplay.

You're on life support. You jumped in and stated that Rose was afraid to shoot. You came up with some corny line about Ebola as a way of supporting your assertion. You were rebuked immediately by the fact that he shot twenty five times a game. You attempted along with the support of the all knowing Nas to try the ol political pivot move and make it about fourth quarter fears. Initially you tried to state that he was guarded by and scared to shoot against Lebron. When I stated that Lebron really only guarded him for perhaps the last 5-6 minutes of the game if that you made it about the fourth quarter. The battle has been lost. Fold the tent. I will address this because it is a good question. A non shot blocking center is still a center in my opinion. There have been a number of centers that haven't been shot blockers but yet were still centers. I think rebounding is more important to that position. If I had a choice I would probably take a rebounder over a shot blocker. Also though I value a center that plays in the post over a high post center I wouldn't consider a high post center to be a non center. I think for me it would come down to their ability to glass. With respect to point guard I do base that position on their ability to run a team. The great ones run teams and have an ability to dominate a game without scoring. Rose actually did that in the state tournament his senior yr. He has not really done that during his NBA career. I wouldn't necessarily call him a two guard though. He is a point but he is def. A scoring point guard ad opposed to a guard that's going to get you fifteen assists in a game or orchestrate an offense. That's not his game. I think that the Bulls lack of offensive talent has obscured the fact that he has some deficiencies as a floor leader. His decision making is also questionable. He jumps in the air to pass far too much. That is something you're taught never to do. You learn that from the time you first start playing the game

Actually I did rebuff the Taj. Stuff and for the record he didn't look so hot last night did he. But it's still early. I'm still wondering how a guy that averaged 25 shots a game is scared to shoot. It's interesting how no one involved in this with all of their perceived basketball wisdom can answer this question. By the way I can give a damn if you choose to ignore me or not. It's not like I'm clamoring for you to bestow me with your presence.

I responded to his comments thus I read his posts. My assumption was based on an attempt to discredit me. I assumed rightly so I might add that he'd read the 25 shots thing since he was commenting in a thread where the 25 shots thing has consistently been brought up by me.
